This article explains how to capture all packets that pass through a selected interface on RV180 and RV180W. The selected interface could be a LAN or Dedicated WAN.
NOTE: To view the captured packets in the file, it is necessary to have a external application like Wireshark.
• RV180 VPN Router
• RV180W Wireless-N Multifunction Router
Step 1. Use the Configuration Utility of the router to choose Administration > Diagnostics > Capture Packets which opens the Capture Packets page.
Step 2. To capture packets, click Packet Trace. A new window appears.
Step 3. Choose an interface from the Select Network drop-down menu to apply packet capture to it.
• LAN(Local Network) – Selects the LAN interface.
• Dedicated WAN(Internet) – Selects the WAN interface.
Step 4. To start the packet capture, click Start.
Step 5 To stop the packet capture, click Stop.
