Class of Service (CoS) is a 3-bit field within an Ethernet frame header known as the Priority Code Point (PCP) which is present when using an 802.1 network. The priority values range from 0 to 7, inclusive, which are used by Quality of Service (QoS) to differentiate traffic. 802.1p gives eight different classes of service.
The objective of this document is to show you how to configure the CoS Settings on the RV180 and RV180W. The CoS Settings page serves to map services by CoS value to forwarding queues on the router.

Step 1. Use the Configuration Utility to choose QOS > CoS Settings. The CoS Settings page opens:
Step 2. In the CoS to Queue field, check Enable. Once this field is enabled, the 802.1p priority bit packets are assigned corresponding traffic queues.
Note: The above table shows the present mapping between the 802.1p priority bit and the traffic queues.
Step 3. In the CoS to Traffic Forwarding Queue Mapping Table, the following information is displayed.
• CoS Priority — 802.1p priority bit which has been set on the packet.
• Traffic Forwarding Queue — Choose one of the four traffic queues with increasing priorities from lowest to highest.
Step 4. Click Save to save the settings.
Step 5. Click Restore Default to restore the default settings.
