The startup wizard for the RV220W and RV120W routers is used to configure all of the basic settings of the devices. Through this wizard you will be able to configure the security level, time zone, the IP address, the MAC address, and the connection you will be using. All of the settings configured in the startup wizard can be changed later; the wizard simply compiles all of the necessary configurations into one operation.
The objective of this document is to show you how to run the startup wizard on the RV220W and RV120W.
• RV120W
• RV220W
Step 1. Use the web configuration utility to choose Run Setup Wizard.
Step 2. Click Next to continue. A progress bar appears to indicate that the device checks the connection.
Step 3. Click Next to continue.
Step 4. Choose the option that best fits your needs. Note: The wizard has already determined what internet connection you are using so unless your internet service provider has instructed you to select a different option, leave the current option and press Next to continue.
• Dynamic IP address (DHCP) — the most common connection for small businesses and residential users, also the recommended option.
• Static IP address — choose this option if you want the IP address on the device to be the same each time you power up.
• PPoE — point to point protocol over Ethernet is not commonly used and requires a login.
• PPTP — primarily used with virtual private network and requires a login, only used in Europe.

Step 5. To set the time and date on the system choose a time zone from the drop down menu. Then choose your desired option.

• Set time and date manually, or import them from your computer — allows you to manually set the date and time or import the data from your computer.
Step 6. Set the MAC address. In most cases you will want to use the default MAC address unless your ISP requires you to connect to a specific MAC address. Click Submit.
Step 7. Click Next to continue to set your password.
Step 8. Input your desired password into the Password and Confirm Password fields. Click Next to continue.
Step 9. Input you desired network name in the Network Name field. Click Next to continue to choose your security preference.
