CSCvu82419 | Browser extensions will no longer support Cisco Webex Meeting Server (CWMS) after February 28, 2021 |
Browser extensions will no longer support Cisco Webex Meeting Server (CWMS) due to a security update that restricts the domains on which they are allowed to run.
In order to provide enhanced security across Webex meetings, the CWMS extensions used to join a meeting from common browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge Chromium) are changing. The Webex meetings browser extensions will be set to load only on webex.com domains. New extensions will be enforced/updated on 2021-02-28. After this date, CWMS users will not be able to start or join a meeting unless they update the CWMS software.
Browser extensions are used to join a meeting and play back a recorded meeting. When playing back a recording from the CWMS site, this new CWMS version is required to play back the recorded meeting. The ability to download ARF recordings for offline playback is still available and is not affected by this change.
Microsoft Edge and Apple or Android mobile devices do not use extensions and are not affected by this change.
CWMS users will not be able to start or join a meeting after 2021-02-28.
Cisco has posted new CWMS maintenance releases that will provide the necessary capabilities to start a meeting or access a recording. All customers must update to at least one of these releases by 2021-02-28 in order to avoid any service interruption.
Note: CWMS 2.X customers must upgrade to CWMS 3.0 MR3 Security Patch 4 or later.
A valid support contract is required for software download access. Customers without a current support contract should contact their Cisco reseller.
