Problem Description
Some 3-port GE line card may experience Tx SOP SRAM parity errors.
Background
This problem has been isolated to a timing anomaly on the line card which is associated with a particular revision of memory component.
Problem Symptoms
Tx SOP SRAM parity errors, an example of which is shown below:
SLOT 14:00:01:43: %LCPOS-3-SOP: Tx SOP. (source=0x20, halt_minor0=0x1)
Workaround/Solution
As of line card part number 800-06376-02 rev. A0 (and later) the 3-port GE line card is no longer using the revision of memory which is associated with this problem. Line card part number 800-06376-01 (any revision) is subject to the problem described in this field notice.
The probability of a field failure is low. Cisco recommends a fix-on-fail strategy for this problem.
Service Logistics has known-good inventory at this time. The standard RMA process and delivery times are in effect.
How To Identify Hardware Levels
The 800-level part number can be seen by using the
show diag slot command.
How to Identify Memory Components
Not all products within the affected revision range listed in the
Products Affected section above are affected by this problem. For customers who wish to be more selective in identifying and replacing potentially defective line cards the following information is provided.
The yellow rectangle in the photo below identifies the location of the memory modules in question.

Memory modules having a "Z" in the location shown in the yellow rectangle in the photo below are associated with this problem. Memory modules having a different letter or different labeling are not associated with this problem. In the example shown in the photo below, the memory module has a letter "Y" and is therefore not associated with this problem.
