Product Migration Options
The part number change is due to design optimizations on the current interface card.
These optimizations have led to the need for a new version of Cisco IOS® Software (12.0(10)S or greater and 11.2(19)GS5 or greater).
The new B parts will not change any functionality or performance in the 4OC-12/STM-4 interface module. Both the existing version of 4OC-12/STM-4 and the new "B" version of 4OC-12/STM-4 interfaces are the same in form fit and function when running with Cisco IOS image 12.0(10)S or higher or Cisco IOS image 11.2(19)GS5 or higher.
Cisco strongly recommends that all existing 4OC-12/STM-4 orders that have not been shipped be converted to reflect the new B part number.
Upgrade
Customers wishing to upgrade from existing non-B versioned 4OC-12/STM-4 line cards to new B versioned 4OC-12/STM-4 line cards should follow the technology migration plan guidelines located at:
http://www.cisco.com/web/partners/pr11/incentive/index.html
