As part of its overall economic reform program, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been planning to privatize Saudi Arabian Airlines.

To facilitate this change, Saudi Arabian Airlines looked at overhauling its central IT. An IT diagnostics and master plan project study indicated the core areas for development. Critical applications were outdated and no longer maintainable. Core Airline functions needed to be migrated to new platforms to allow for better support of key business processes. Basic infrastructure services needed improvement (e.g. desktop, telecoms, connectivity…)

The objectives were manyfold. To build an effective and efficient managed IT infrastructure, enabling enterprise-wide customer-centric services. To support the existing Legacy and the proposed new applications like SAP, Saber, Amadeus and Kale. The solutions list included:

Wipro Arabia Limited is a recognised name in IT in the kingdom. Wipro and the Cisco Technology architecture was identified as the most competent and trusted partners and we were awarded with the contract for Technology Transformation and Operational Sustenance. The total investment is in excess of 100 Million USD.

The key to this win is the team work and excellent technology prowess demonstrated by both us and Wipro. We shared best practices, worked collaboratively, and very effectively leveraged the combination of our networking platform and Wipro’s managed IT infrastructure services.Wipro’s knowledge & competencies,in tandem with Cisco’s strong network platform leadership, helped drive desired outcomes for customers based on other technologies too. Saudi Arabian Airlines is one of our early and prestigious wins in the Middle East.

From a Saudi Arabian Airlines perspective, Wipro and Cisco demonstrated deep understanding of the customer’s challenges and worked together closely to address the core need areas . Regular communication and dialogue between us partners, along with joint planning and review meetings, were instrumental in keeping each other fully informed, delivering a consolidated message and consistent face to the customer. This approach solidified the customer’s trust and confidence on the alliance.
