Lab Equipment

Required Lab
Cisco requires the purchase of an IP Communications lab configuration for the purposes of customer fault replication, internal training, and proof-of-concept demonstrations. In order to provide flexible options in fulfilling the IP Communications lab requirement, various product choices are accessible via the Product Category links below. You must possess one product from each of the following Product Categories in your IP Communications lab environment:

  • Cisco CallManager
    The most economical way to fill this requirement is with the Cisco Call Manager software installed on an approved IBM or Compaq platform. The Cisco MCS platform is the most suitable for your lab environment.

  • Cisco IP Phones
    A minimum of four 7940, 7960, or 7970 phones is required which allow you to view the full display, the flexibility to manage multiple lines, and the ability to write custom XML applications for the phone.

  • Cisco Voice Gateway
    You may already have a voice gateway that fulfills this requirement. (See list of accepted gateways and additional components under the product category link.)

  • Cisco Switch
    You may already have a switch that fulfills this requirement; See product options. Experience with Cisco Discovery Protocol and proper installation of in line power is recommended.

  • Applications
    Please install all Cisco voice applications in your lab as specified on lab list. Some applications are available as NFR Kits. These kits are available through an authorized Cisco Distributor.

  • Voice Mail / Unified Messaging
    Unity Unified Messaging is required with a dedicated server.

Verification of Lab Equipment
Cisco will verify all partners labs. Cisco reserves the right to request a demonstration of the lab upon approval into the specialization program. The required lab list needs to be verified by one of the following three methods:

  1. Validation by on-site Cisco SE (Cisco SE Verification Form), OR
  2. Upload an itemized lab list showing corresponding invoices/invoice #'s for all lab equipment into the Specializations application OR
  3. Upload an itemized lab list showing corresponding product serial numbers for all lab equipment into the Specializations application.
