The Head Training Center of Ukrtelecom is a technical college that offers training to post-secondary students in Kiev. Most of those students come from neighboring universities within Kiev and attend the Head Training Center to get hands-on training and to expand their degrees. The college offers many technical courses, such as web design and UNIX. It is has many computer labs scattered throughout its campus, each with roughly twelve computers. One of those labs is dedicated specifically to the Cisco networking curriculum.
The Head Training Center was selected as an ITU-Cisco Internet Training Center in May 2002 and began offering classes in September of 2002. As of May 2003, it had two instructors trained and five classes running.
As a member of the ITC Initiative, the Head Training Center of Ukrtelecom is dedicated to helping women succeed in the IT industry. In May of 2003, two of the five running classes were female-only. Female students are encouraged to recruit friends and share their experiences with women outside of the program. Additionally, center representatives offer reduced tuition for female students and run special marketing campaigns targeted to females at local universities.
