The success of your students defines the success of your program. Once you have a goal and a target group for your Networking Academy program, you can address these areas: In some Networking Academies getting as many students as possible through the door is the goal. They feel that even if they are not appropriate for Cisco training the experience will increase the individual's level of awareness in technology career possibilities. Other Networking Academies do not have the resources to handle mass recruitment. They screen career information, and qualifying information to help individuals determine their interest level before applying. The goal is to get as many appropriate students to inquire about the program as possible. The purpose of the selection process is to accept as many appropriate students as possible. Many of the people targeted by these programs are too familiar with failure, rejection and disappointment. It is important that the Networking Academy is a positive learning experience for them. Many organizations feel it is a disservice to put students in a situation that is high risk for them. The CCNA curriculum is a comprehensive, entry-level networking curriculum. Cisco quality control requires Networking Academies to offer it with no fewer than 280 hours, in no less than six months. All Networking Academies agree that the labs are an uncompromisingly critical part of the learning. They have many ideas for scheduling and including additional skills training. We all want to know how and what our students do when they complete the training. Where are they working? Who has gone on to college? What can they tell us about the value of what they learned in class? To keep students communicating, it's got to be creative, simple and beneficial. |
