You will learn about important new features in the Generation 2 platform, including Bandwidth Reservation, Autonomous Fabrics, FCIP Transport Optimization, and Network-Based Storage Applications.

Cisco IT data centers continue to require more storage capacity. To reduce costs, Cisco IT began migrating to Storage Area Networking in 2002. Cisco IT migrated all SAN storage to the Cisco MDS SAN switch when it became available later that year.

This course teaches features and components of FICON support in the Cisco MDS 9000 Multilayer Switch family. It includes storage and channel terminology in a mainframe environment, and detailed coverage of FICON protocols, and configuring a MDS 9000 switch for FICON support.

This simulator is intended to accompany the Cisco Mainframe Storage Solutions (CMSS) course. It provides practice configuring FICON on MDS 9000 family switches, as well as practice configuring Channels and Control Units on an IBM mainframe.
