The Cisco Unity Design and Networking exam is one of several requirements for the Cisco Unity Design Specialist certification.

Infrastructure Components Affecting Unity Design

  • Explain the impact of the Domino messaging environment upon a Unity design
  • Explain the impact of the Exchange messaging environment upon a Unity design
  • Explain the role of SQL 2000 as it is related to failover
  • Describe procedures for successful backups, remediation of security risks, supported antivirus tools, and for basic management of the solution

Large-Scale Voicemail-Only Designs

  • Identify the correct solution
  • Identify the relevance of capacity planning
  • Identify the redundancy issues
  • Identify the Unity Digital Networking issues
  • Identify the unified messaging migration path issues

Cisco Unity Deployment Models

  • Identify how to use multiple directory handlers to limit directory search scope
  • Make bandwidth recommendations for a given number of branch office users
  • Design a Unity solution that incorporates dialing domains
  • Identify existing components that Unity will interact with, identify potential deployment models, and identify technical issues pertaining to a design
  • Identify the limits of directory synchronization
