Floor Plan
This year we feature Cisco’s Smart+Connected Retail solutions, targeting areas such as physical and PCI security, information and energy management, marketing and merchandising, and the total in-store experience.
Lean Retail Architecture
This demonstration shows how a lean retail architecture reduces capital expenditures and operating expenses while increasing a retailer’s business agility. By centralizing and consolidating servers and storage to the data center, retailers can optimize performance while reducing both operational and capital expenses. Centralizing and consolidating also simplify and speed up store technology deployments.
To experience a flash demonstration of this solution and for more information, visit the Cisco Lean Retail Architecture page.
Cisco Services and our partners offer world-class services to help retailers get the full value for their IT investment. For more information, visit the Cisco Services page.
Energy Management
This demonstration shows how Cisco takes full advantage of the network to improve energy measurement and access. Cisco energy management solutions for retail help you lower energy use and maintenance costs, and they can help enable alternate energy options. They provide you with the tools to respond to energy demands efficiently and cost-effectively.
To learn more about the technology behind the solution, watch this video from Ed Richards, Director of Engineering, Network Building Mediator, at Cisco Live 2009.
Cisco Services
Deliver the right visual experience. This demonstration highlights the benefits of visual technologies to deliver dynamic and interactive opportunities to engage shoppers. Talk to a Cisco content creation strategist to learn how Cisco Digital Media Creative Services (DMCS) can help you create an in-store environment that creates differentiation, promotes your brand promise, and influences shoppers.
Cisco and our partners provide a broad portfolio of services ranging from planning and design, to implementation, to support and remote management. This portfolio of services can help you accelerate business innovation and make your business processes more efficient. This demonstration provides Cisco experts to talk to about your toughest business challenges.
For more information about these services, visit the Cisco Services page.
Payment Card Industry Solution
This demonstration highlights Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard Version 1.2 and Cisco’s PCI Solution for Retail. PCI best practices, validated retail architectures, the PCI Retail Design and Implementation Guide, partners, and services are all included in this demonstration. There is also a PCI game to test your PCI knowledge. Roll the dice and test your PCI business and technical expertise. This demonstration will educate and entertain attendees as they test their PCI knowledge for a chance to be entered in a drawing for a prize.
See Christian Janoff, retail industry architect and board member of PCI Security, talk about the recent council meeting.
Cisco and Agilence Retail Loss Prevention Solution
Agilence’s retail loss prevention application, integrated with Cisco’s IP-based video surveillance technology, helps retailers identify and reduce shrink at the point of sale (PoS). Agilence’s application analyzes PoS data to detect anomalies and then links it to associated video footage from Cisco’s video surveillance equipment, enabling loss prevention analysts to identify shrink caused by cashier fraud, external theft, systemic errors, operational inefficiencies, and poor promotion implementation.
See this Agilence video about how its loss prevention solution works.
Cisco TelePresence Conferencing
This demonstration, featuring Cisco TelePresence 500 for retail with AT&T, showcases Virtual Expert Manager. Virtual Expert Manager will provide in-store collaboration, allowing retailers to scale experts across the chain over the network. Customers will also learn about the features of the AT&T network of public suites and the value proposition for retailers, including reduced costs, convenience, improved productivity, and efficiency.
Watch videos from NRF 2009 Cisco TelePresence conferencing with AT&T demonstrations.
Interactive Signage, Proof of Play, and Employee Training
This demonstration will highlight many new retail-specific features. The benefits of touchscreen signage enable retailers to provide information and education to consumers in a self-service manner. Advertisements played on the screen will produce a playlist and content logs as proof of play to manufacturers for additional revenues. The screen also will provide employee training before and after store hours to use the investment and improve employee efficiency.
Media Experience Engines
Live video footage will be streamed to multiple devices to highlight how retailers can quickly and easily extend the reach of any media application to any device. The Media Experience Engines (MXE) can communicate critical information and reduce costs and overhead while facilitating learning.
Show and Share
This demonstration will highlight Cisco’s new social video system, which helps organizations create secure video communities to share ideas and expertise; optimize global video collaboration; and personalize the connection between customers, employees, and partners with user-generated content for training, merchandising, and marketing.
Cisco Services provide comprehensive service offerings to help plan, design, implement, and operate the solution. For more information, visit the Cisco Digital Media Suite Services page.
Cisco Digital Media Creative Services (DMCS) can help you create an intuitive and stimulating in-store environment. For more information, visit the Cisco Digital Media Creative Services page.
Virtual Expert Management
Experience face-to-face collaboration, including voice, video, and web sharing, with a virtual expert without leaving the store floor. This demonstration highlights Cisco at its collaborative best by combining Cisco Unified Contact Center, Cisco Unified Communications, Cisco Customer Voice Portal, and other collaborative technologies into a transparent experience that improves the customer experience.

Store Floor Task Management
Extend task management to store employees at the point of need. This demonstration highlights the benefits of integrating Reflexis’s leading task management software with the Cisco Unified Communications platform. This solution helps to enable real-time notification of task assignments to every store employee on the store floor. It dramatically improves store implementation and compliance to help ensure operational efficiency.
Store Workforce Management Connection
Perform employee transactions such as clock-in/clock-out from anywhere in the store. This demonstration illustrates the benefits of integrating the leading workforce management software (Kronos and Infor) with the Cisco Unified Communications platform. It provides retail employees with access to information and the ability to clock in and out from anywhere in the store. It increases productivity and reduces operational cost while improving communication.
Digital Signage, Employee Training, and Task Management
This demonstration will integrate with the Employee Task Management demonstration with Reflexis. Employees can view their work assignments, including a required video. The demonstration will allow employees to easily view the video on a digital sign before or after store hours using the phone feature button, increasing compliance and productivity.
Cisco Services provide comprehensive service offerings to help plan, design, implement, and operate the solution. For more information, visit the Cisco Digital Media Suite Services page.

The video analytics and monitoring service compares actual metrics to benchmark metrics and provides real-time alert information such as queue lengths, under-/overstaffing, and so on.
The following are solutions that will not be shown NRF 2010 because of space limitations but we feel are of interest to retailers.
