What is the Public Services Summit 2009?
Specifically targeted at senior policy advisors and key decision-makers in education, healthcare and government, the Public Services Summit will focus attendees can use the internet and networking technologies to change the way they do business.

When and where is the Public Service Summit 2009?
This is a three-day event, held in Stockholm, Sweden and Oslo, Norway.

Wednesday 9-10 December, Stockholm, Sweden

Why should I attend?
This unique, invitation-only event offers the delegate the opportunity to explore new ways to create public value and improve service delivery. In the face of challenges that range from the global economic slowdown to climate change and the impact of ageing populations, it is imperative to harness technology to make organisations more efficient and more effective. In particular, connectivity creates exciting new opportunities to transform the way public sector organisations collaborate internally, with partners and with citizens and businesses.

The 2009 event theme “Connect to the Future: Innovating in challenging times” reflects the importance of grasping these opportunities in order to deliver, not just short-term results, but long term success.

Delegates are also invited to join us in Oslo at the Nobel Peace Prize concert to celebrate and honour the achievements of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate.

Am I expected to attend all activities?
You are expected to attend all activities. However, if you are unable to attend a specific activity, please indicate this on the registration website.

How much does it cost to attend?
Cisco is pleased to extend this invitation for a delegate to attend the Public Services Summit. The myriad of worldwide procurement laws and regulations make it impossible for Cisco to definitively determine whether your attendance at the event is lawful in your home country. Each attendee is solely responsible for verifying the legality of all aspects of their attendance at the event and their participation in the activities offered as part of the program.

Please consult with your professional advisors as necessary.

If you need to pay for food/beverage, transportation and other event expenses you will have the opportunity to do so when you register. There is no attendance fee. We regret that due to internationally applicable rules regarding Public Sector events and Cisco company policy, Cisco will be unable to pay for travel and hotel accommodations for delegates.

Delegates will be required to pay for the following:

  1. Airfare
  2. Hotel accommodation in both Stockholm and Oslo
  3. Hotel incidentals

What airport should I depart from?
Oslo International Airport, located 45 minutes away by taxi from the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel.

What time should I arrive on Tuesday 8th December?
The registration desk will be open from 10:00 – 22:00. The Summit starts on Wednesday 9th December at 8.30 am.

Who may attend the Public Services Summit 2009?
The Public Services Summit 2009 is an exclusive, invitation-only event. You have been specifically chosen to attend by your Cisco Representative.

What is the expected number of attendees?
Attendance is expected to be approximately 300.

Are spouses and partners able to attend?
Unfortunately, we are unable to extend your invitation to include partners or spouses at either the summit, evening events or the concert as we have a restriction on numbers that we can cater for at this prestigious business event.

Are children permitted to attend?
Children are not permitted to attend any of the Public Services Summit events, including the evening events.

What are the passport/visa requirements for Sweden and Norway?
Passport and visa requirements are subject to change and vary depending on your length of stay and visa type. Check with your travel advisor, embassy or consulate in your home country. We regret that Cisco cannot assist with passport and visa questions.

Are transfers to events provided?
Yes. Transfers are provided for delegates to all events. Shuttles will leave from the Clarion Hotel Stockholm.

Are transfers from the airport provided?
No. Guests will need to arrange for their own transportation to the Clarion Hotel Stockholm from Arlanda International Airport.

Shuttles to International Airport will be available from the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel on 12 December, from 05:00 - 11:00 (leaves every hour).

Do I need to make my own travel arrangements from Stockholm to Oslo for the Nobel Peace Prize Concert?
No. Cisco has arranged and will pay for all guests’ transportation from Stockholm to Oslo. Guests will board a private train at Stockholm Central Station.

Upon arrival in Stockholm, how do I get to the hotel?
From Arlanda International Airport: By car: Take E4 South (Stockholm) 45 km. Follow the signs to Södermalm through the city tunnels and then turn towards Hammarbyhamnen, make a u-turn at the roundabout and follow the left lane towards Södermalm. After the tunnel, turn right and you are right outside the hotel.

From South: Take E4 North to Stockholm, follow the signs to Södermalm and turn right when you reach Hornstull. Continue 500 meters and then turn right on Ringvägen. Follow Ringvägen and you will find the hotel on your right after about 500 meters.

By train: Take the Arlanda Express to the Stockholm Central station. Then take the subway (Tunnelbana) to Skanstull, green line south towards Hagsätra, Skarpnäck or Farsta Strand. Take exit towards Ringvägen. The hotel is situated right next to the subway exit.

What is the expected weather conditions for December?
December temperatures in Stockholm and Oslo are between -10° and 8° degrees Celsius (10° to 46° Fahrenheit). Please dress accordingly.

What is the currency in Sweden?
Swedish Krona (SEK).

What is the currency in Norway?
Norwegian Krone (NOK).

What kind of power adaptor do Sweden and Norway use?
Sweden and Norway require power adaptors with a European 2 pin plug.

Will the hotel have high-speed internet access?
There is wireless access in all hotel bedrooms and in the lobby areas of both the hotels.

What is Cisco’s sponsorship of the Nobel festivities?
Cisco is the Global Sponsor of the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. This annual event honours the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
