We hope you were able to join us at The Cable Show, May 11–13, in Los Angeles, California.
Now more than ever, today’s consumers want more content and higher quality. They want the same interactivity and personalization with their video entertainment that they experience on the Internet, regardless of device.
Cable operators are in a unique position to unify the video experiences for consumers, and Cisco can help. At the show, we demonstrated how Cisco can provide a transparent migration from a traditional cable network to a future-looking IP video ecosystem. Our extensive heritage of support for the cable industry, expertise in video distribution technology, and decades of IP technology leadership can help cable operators to make this dramatic shift with confidence.
Cisco medianet, an all-IP next-generation network (NGN) optimized for rich media, is the architectural foundation for undergoing this transformation. Three underlying elements of the medianet architecture were demonstrated at NCTA: mobile Internet, cloud media services, and IP video, all working together as an end-to-end system to deliver a unified experience and realize new business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) business model opportunities for overall growth and profitability. At the Cable Show, Cisco launched What If Your TV Could…?, a video contest asking consumers to submit creative ideas about what they wish their TV could do. For an opportunity to win USD$10,000, participants will enter a short video explaining what future capabilities they would like to see on their TV. Consumers are encouraged to submit video responses to the question, “If your TV could do anything, what would YOU want it to do?” on Cisco’s contest website at www.ciscocontest.com.
