Cisco at NAB 2009

Technology Demonstrations

NAB 2009

Cisco Suite

The following demonstrations will be set up in the Cisco Suite, South Upper Hall, S4, Rooms S213 and S214.

Digital Content Management

Cisco will show digital content management (DCM), ROSA, and ROSA EM configured to show program switching between local and national feeds, example of EAS Text Crawl insertion onto a digital MPEG-2 program. Management of the overall solution is performed by ROSA network management.

ROSA VSM: Video Services Manager

Enables complete end-to-end video network management of digital platforms. ROSA video service management monitors, manages, and controls equipment and services throughout the network.

  • Reduces Complexity
  • Increases Uptime and Decreases Operating
  • Simplifieds Operations with dynamic reconfiguration
  • Evaluates Network Proactively – Recording and analyzing the historical performance of the network extends the mean time between failure (MTBF)

D9865 Satellite Receiver

Developed for primary distribution, private networks, and SMATV applications. Key product benefits:

  • Decoding of MPEG-2/AVC SD/HD, DVB-S/S2 demodulation
  • Optional HDMI, component and data ports (HD and Data Models)
  • PowerVu features: service replacement, CA, lock levels, force tune, NIT tuning
  • Support of PowerVu and 3rd party CA

New DCM IP -Gateway

Ultra compact SDI gateway which delivers industry leading IP adapter capabilities for video contribution applications.

  • IP connectivity and redundancy features: hitless switchover with spatial redundancy
  • Uncompressed SD and HD transport over IP networks
  • Optional JPEG2000 encoding/decoding
  • Up to 12 videos in a compact 1RU chassis

New DCM Transcoder

High density MPEG-2 to AVC transcoder. Full feature set and excellent fit in the network architecture

  • 48 SD/12 HD video programs in 2RU
  • Modular and scalable product design
  • Built on DCM hardware and software platform assuring full feature set and excellent fit in the network
  • Low power consumption

D9854 Advanced Program Receiver

High-quality SD and HD video decoding. Eases migration from DVB-S MPEG-2 SD to DVB-S2 AVC HD for programmers and broadcasters and supports PowerVu and 3rd party CA.

  • HD to SD Down-conversion based Active Format Descriptor
  • Supports a single PowerVu program or up to 16 DVB-CI programs (CAM dependant)
  • PowerVu features: service replacement, CA, lock levels, force tune, NIT tuning, audio mapping

D9858 Advanced Receiver Trancoder

High-quality HD AVC distribution, transcoded at the headend to MPEG-2 SD or HD. Content providers can provide an SD and HD version of the same program in the same device while optimizing transmission costs by only transmitting a single AVC HD program:

  • High Quality HD transcoding to low MPEG-2 HD bitrates to meet MSO needs for low bit rate HD
  • Capable of transcoding two unique programs in 1 RU chassis
  • PowerVu features: service replacement, CA, lock levels, force tune, NIT tuning, audio mapping

Virtualized Content to Any Screen

Cisco will demonstrate the connected life with its next generation hybrid set-top and gateway, showing any content to any device with consistent user experience.

Cisco Interactive Showcase

Touchscreen overview of full breadth of Cisco products, solutions, and architectures.

Cisco on the Exhibit Floor

Cisco Kiosk, Fujitsu Booth SU10921
We will host several demos in our partner Fujitsu’s booth. The technologies/solutions we will showcase are our Cisco IP contribution and video-encoding solutions, including low-latency, high-quality encoders and decoders, DCM video processors, and ROSA and Dimetis’s service-oriented architecture (SOA)-based video-aware BOSS Broadcast Platform for network and service management.
