Cisco Technology and Solutions Demonstrations
The data and application driven Mobile Internet is promoting innovative new applications for both consumers and businesses which is driving new levels of information exchange, entertainment, social networking and business productivity. High speed radio networks such as HSPA and EV-DO as well as new 4G networks such as LTE (Long Term Evolution) and WiMAX will further advance the cause of the Mobile Internet by enabling high-performance, all IP-architectures and solutions. Mobile data traffic is expected to double annually for the foreseeable future. And with over 3.3 billion global mobile users expected to embrace Mobile Internet applications as part of the Connected Life, mobile operators must be proactive in implementing infrastructure changes to support the required scalability and performance, or risk losing out to competitors.
At Mobile World Congress 2009, Cisco will feature many leading Mobile Internet applications and solutions that help mobile operators build future-proof networks enabled by the Cisco IP NGN architecture. The solutions demonstrated will illustrate the opportunity for mobile operators to optimize and monetize their mobile data networks by enhancing the user experience and providing value-added services and features.
Cisco WiMAX Radio
The Cisco WiMAX Radio demonstration includes the Cisco BTX-MX8 WiMAX Basestation, the RFS8 Antenna System, and a selection of Cisco and third-party subscriber stations (customer premises equipment [CPE]).
Cisco in the Radio Access Network
This is a fully interactive, animated demonstration of Cisco in the Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions: Mobile Transport over Packet (MToP) and IP RAN-Optimization (RAN-O). This demonstration clearly illustrates the workings of a typical RAN over a single converged IP NGN infrastructure.
Three-Screen IP Video
As a primary network component in enabling the Connected Home vision, the Cisco Content Distribution System (CDS) demonstration illustrates how operators can offer subscribers a “three-screen” IP video streaming experience, delivering personalized video viewing across the PC, television, and mobile device.
Mobile Collaboration with Cisco WebEx
This demonstration showcases the new mobility extensions and features of Cisco WebEx Connect running on mobile handsets. In addition, a WebEx Connect application customized for the Apple iPhone will be shown that uses the iPhone’s handset features in a you’ve-got-to-see-it-to-believe-it way.
Cisco Mobile Unified Communications
See a demonstration of the mobility capabilities of Cisco’s Unified Communications solutions, including the Cisco Unified Mobile Communicator available on major mobile OS environments, which create opportunities for operators to provide converged mobile and business communications services to small and medium-sized businesses and enterprises.
Cisco Mobile Gateways
The Cisco Mobile Gateway family such as the Cisco eGGSN, Cisco PDSN, Cisco Content Services Gateway, Cisco Broadband Wireless Gateway, as well as other service modules such as the Cisco IP Transfer Point and the Cisco Home Agent — based on Cisco’s high-performance Service Application Module for IP (SAMI) technology —enable the convergence of mobile networks with the array of services available on IP NGNs.
Monetize Mobile Applications with Dynamic Policy Control
See how operators can deploy dynamic policy management and charging solutions to better optimize and monetize mobile data networks. The joint solution from Openet and Cisco leverages the Cisco Content Services Gateway 2nd Generation (CSG2), the Cisco Service Control Engine (SCE), and other intelligent IP network solutions to enable operators to: offer tiered service bundles; enforce fair-use quotas; prioritize traffic with dynamic QoS; and offer personalized subscriber services through flexible billing plans, service day passes, spending limits, and more.
Addressable Digital Advertising
See how fixed and mobile network operators can generate new revenues from their existing assets. This joint solution from Feeva and Cisco transforms a network operator into a profitable media-enabler in the online advertising ecosystem. Learn how marketers can improve the performance of their online advertising campaigns by partnering with network operators, using this scalable and innovative new technology.
Corporate Smartphone Application Control
This demonstration illustrates how mobile operators can provide enterprises and small and medium-sized businesses with iPhones and other smartphones along with the ability to adhere to corporate IT security policies as well as control costs of mobile data services. Corporate-provided smartphones can be restricted from accessing noncorporate applications such as games, gambling, and inappropriate content, while enabled to securely access corporate intranet sites and applications. The solution also supports consumer parental controls, mobile child safety, and more. This joint solution from AdaptiveMobile and Cisco leverages the Cisco Content Services Gateway 2nd Generation (CSG2), the Cisco Service Control Engine (SCE), and other intelligent network solutions.
Cisco Femtocell
Live demonstrations of mobile HSPA web browsing and voice at home. Connected life at home experience through thick walls, in underground basement, or just being far away from cell tower, is not a problem. Femtocell provides indoor mobile capacity and coverage and even offload cell tower backhaul traffic to the home broadband connection.
Cisco 3G Mobile Broadband Router
Live demonstration of instant "HotSpot" for multiple users. Insert a single Mobile Broadband data card into the 3G Mobile Broadband Router, customers are connected to access the internet or corporate workspace. File sharing, connect printers, fax machines, POS devices (retail application) are supported also.
Cisco GSM over IP Telephone Adaptor
Live demonstration of voice call from a telephone adaptor when plugs into an an existing router enables Internet phone service with no change. Mobile Service Provider with FMS strategy can reduce its cost of customer premise equipment, makes its low cost Internet phone service more profitable, reduces the complexity and cost of setting up an Internet service, and offers number portability over fixed line.
