New features improve user experience and simplify growth and management.

This deployment-in-progress report describes how Cisco IT upgraded to Cisco® Unified Communications Manager 7.0 in only three months, with little or no service loss for employees. Employees benefit from simplified international dialing, the ability to initiate calls from their desktop phones by way of their mobile phones, and other collaboration features.

This upgrade has given Cisco IT the foundation to enrich the Cisco voice network with other services. Especially valuable to Cisco will be:

  • Interconnecting with other IP voice networks using Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) trunking
  • Making it more cost effective to expand the use of video conferencing, through intelligent bridge selection
  • Empowering mobile employees by extending more services to mobile phones and smartphones
  • Enabling tighter integration with partners’ IP voice networks
