New solution combines compute,
network, storage access, and virtualization
capabilities.
Well before the Cisco Unified Computing
System launched publicly in March 2009, Cisco IT had already
begun deploying and testing the solution in production at one
of its data centers in Northern California, together with the
Nexus 7000 and 5000 Series switches. Several production and
business-critical applications have been running on the
Unified Computing System, including Cisco’s news and media
site.
New interactive tool provides
deployment and design insights from Cisco IT
architects.
Cisco on Cisco recently launched the
interactive Richardson Data Center Tour, a multimedia
environment where users can explore the design and
implementation of Cisco’s production data center in
Richardson, Texas.
The Cisco on Cisco team recently
published its first case study created entirely by leveraging
a Web 2.0 environment. The Cisco on Cisco team met with the
Worldwide Sales Process and Systems team to discuss their
challenges and successes migrating to WebEx Training Center.
Then the Cisco on Cisco team built a case study using the
collective community knowledge on Ciscopedia, Cisco's newest
global collaborative space where Cisco employees can share and
find knowledge on a wealth of topics. After the case study was
finalized and approved on Ciscopedia by both teams, it was
published on the Cisco on Cisco website and featured on
relevant blogs, Twitter (@CiscoIT), and other social media
efforts.
The Web 2.0-based process used to create
this case study was a huge success, both in terms of
collaborating with subject matter experts and the speed at
which Cisco on Cisco could create a case study compared to
traditional methods.
