Understanding Possible Macroeconomic Benefits of Broadband in Developing Countries
The Cisco® Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG) helps customers turn their technology investments into a strategic asset that increases productivity, reduces costs, and creates new revenue sources. To accomplish this in a varied geography with differing industrial structures requires employing experts from contrasting localities who truly understand the regional differences across more than 130 countries in the regions of Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, The Middle East and Africa, and Russia and CIS.
The Emerging Markets team within Cisco IBSG, capable of advising customers in their local languages, is drawn from premier consulting and technology firms in each area. The Cisco IBSG resources, best practices, and intellectual capital developed in Europe, Asia Pacific, and the United States further supplement the team's efforts. Services range from sharing best-of-breed Internet practices with senior executives to offering Internet-enabled business transformational advisory services such as strategy development, NetReadiness assessments and Internet capabilities assessments. Additional advisory services assist customers with benchmark, ROI, and business case development; road map and initiative portfolio development; setting up governance models and metrics; and establishing an end-to-end architecture for rapid execution and results measurement.
In the past two years, the Cisco IBSG team in the Emerging Markets region has created customer partnerships with senior executives and completed engagements with more than 20 of the "Most Admired" Global 500 and regional companies within their industries, as well as key federal and regional government agencies in Latin America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Russia. The team has worked across the region in varied assignments, spanning all the vertical markets that Cisco serves.
