Dr. Fred Matiang'i was nominated as Cabinet Secretary for Information Communication and Technology on the 23rd of April 2013 and assumed office on the 15th of 2013 after a successfully rigorous vetting process.
He is the immediate former Eastern Africa regional Representative for the Centre for International Development, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, the State University of New York positions he left to join government
Dr. Matiang'i is one of the world's foremost experts on the Kenyan legislature. He has more than 12 years experience in democratic development, the last six years of which have been with the Kenya Parliamentary Strengthening Project, serving first as the Deputy Director & Senior Program Officer and, for the last three years, as Chief of Party. Dr. Matiangi serves as a liaison between the LSP, USAID/Kenya, and the Parliament of Kenya. He has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to secure stakeholder buy-in, facilitate program objectives, and deliver high-quality technical assistance.
Dr. Matiangi has extensive experience in governance-related research, civil society advocacy, and donor-funded democracy and governance projects. Prior to joining the Kenya Parliamentary Strengthening project, Dr. Matiangi taught at the English Department, University of Nairobi, held research and program implementation positions in various civil society organizations in Kenya and conducted research and training for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, the Parliaments of Ethiopia and the East African Legislative Assembly.
He has also been a columnist for the Daily Nation, Kenya's leading newspaper and has consulted extensively with USAID, the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), the World Bank, The West Minister Foundation for Democracy, the Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Transparency International.
Dr. Matiangi's education includes a Doctorate in Comparative Literature from the University of Nairobi, a Master's Degree in English from the University of Nairobi, and a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Kenyatta University.
He consulted previously for among others the World Bank, the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the United Nations Development Programme
Communications Commission of Kenya
Susan Mochache - Wekesa is the Assistant Director in charge of Universal Access Obligation and Funding at the Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK). Susan is passionate about public policy and has over 15 years' experience in both the private and public sectors of the ICT industry in Kenya.
In her position in CCK, Susan is responsible for the Universal Service Fund in Kenya. In addition, she been involved in several government led ICT policy and project initiatives notably, development of The East African Submarine System (TEAMS) and the National Optic Fibre Backbone Infrastructure. She chaired the National Steering Committee that successfully facilitated development of a National Broadband strategy for Kenya which government launched in July 2013.
Susan holds a Masters in Communications Management from the University of Strathclyde in the United Kingdom and a BSc. in International Business. She is a certified MSP Programme Management Practitioner and Prince2 Project Management practitioner. She has also undertaken various telecommunications, leadership and management training programs both locally and abroad.

Nzioka is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya of 11 years standing, a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and a Certified Public Secretary of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK). He has served in the past as a convener and presently is a member of The Intellectual Property Rights & Information Technology Communication Committee within the Law Society of Kenya.
He is a graduate of Law (LLB) from the University of Sheffield in the UK and is presently undertaking a Masters Law degree in Computer and Communications Law from Queen Mary, University of London.
Nzioka is currently the Director of Corporate Affairs at Safaricom, one of the leading integrated communications companies in Africa. As part of his role, Nzioka has been instrumental in positioning Safaricom as a key player in shaping and driving Kenya's digital inclusion agenda.
In both his private and public engagements, Nzioka is very passionate about community service and aside from being a Trustee of the Safaricom Foundation, he sits on the Board of two other non-profit organisations, namely the African Braille Centre www.africanbraille.org which provides specialised Braille reading material for the visually impaired and Alive and Kicking Kenya www.aliveandkicking.org.uk a social charitable trust registered in the UK and having a local office in Kenya.

Senior Vice President Howard Charney is a member of Cisco's Office of the Chairman and CEO, contributing to Cisco's strategy and direction, and a dynamic speaker on the future of technology and global change. In addition to his international appearances as Cisco's technology evangelist, Charney advises businesses, governments, and educators around the world in implementing critical Internet technologies to improve organizational effectiveness.
While at Cisco, Charney has helped grow Cisco's two-tier distribution business to more than US$2.4 billion and, with Cisco's brand and market momentum, helped turn Fast Ethernet and low-cost switching into fundamental, global Internet technologies. He joined Cisco with the acquisition of Grand Junction Networks.
During more than 40 years in Silicon Valley, Charney has overseen the development and proliferation of key technologies that led directly to the global build-out of the Internet. In 1980 he co-founded 3Com, the progenitor of Ethernet and local area networking, whose breakthrough technologies brought Internet access to the desktop. Charney founded Grand Junction Networks in 1992. Grand Junction invented Fast Ethernet and low-cost switching, which transformed the economics of switching.
A licensed patent attorney, Charney belongs to the State Bar of California and the Federal Bar. He sits on the boards of several technology companies and on the advisory board for the Center for Science, Technology and Society at Santa Clara University. He holds bachelors and masters degrees in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and masters of business administration and juris doctor degrees from Santa Clara University.

In May 2013, David Meads was appointed to the role of Cisco's Vice President (VP) for Africa responsible for the company's go-to-market strategy across the continent as well as the field execution of that strategy.
As Cisco's VP for Africa, Meads will be looking at how technology can drive country transformational opportunities within this environment, in particular broadband penetration, and help accelerate governments' agendas.
His role is to act as a trusted advisor to customers, organisations and nations, helping them become more competitive, innovative, prosperous and inclusive, through life- changing networks, enabled by technology.
Meads has 29 years of experience in the IT industry. He has successfully established and grown large sales operations through his determination to remove barriers to growth and by leading dynamic teams, both at Cisco and Siemens.
Meads' transition to Vice President follows a period as Managing Director, Africa Emerging Theatre at Cisco for over a year, as well as more than two and a half years as Managing Director for Cisco in South Africa, where he created a robust partner model, grew the Enterprise, Service Provider and Commercial businesses and built a strong local team. During his tenure, Cisco helped the country develop its e-Skills Initiative, aimed at harnessing information and communications technologies for socio-economic development.
He has travelled extensively throughout Africa, re-establishing the foundations of Cisco's growth, which will deliver accelerated growth in Africa.
He has already successfully represented Cisco at a number of high profile external events including the most recent WEF Africa 2013, The Economist Nigeria Summit, AfricaCom and Cisco Expo 2013 South Africa, ensuring that Cisco builds stronger relationships with strategic Government and business leaders.
Meads, who is married with two teenage boys, is a keen golfer and a lifelong supporter of Queens Park Rangers.
Head of Architectures and Enterprise, Emerging Markets
Den is responsible for helping customers in 84 countries align their business priorities with their IT strategies. His role is to demonstrate how an architectural approach to IT can help businesses thrive in a world where people want to share rich media with anyone, anywhere, on any device, at any time -securely, reliably, and seamlessly.
Prior to his role as Head of Architectures and Enterprise for Emerging Markets, he was CIO for a sales region that spanned Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
Under his leadership, the IT Group made significant investment to support tremendous growth in the region. This meant transforming the organisation's foundational infrastructure while providing a portfolio of new capabilities such as Telepresence, and additional video and collaboration technologies.
Den joined Cisco, and the IT Architecture Group, in 2000. He was responsible for several large-scale advanced technology programmes including the initial portfolio of Virtual Private Networks, Wireless and IP Telephony services. In 2003 he managed the transition of the European, Middle East and Africa WAN to a Multicast MPLS network, the first of its kind globally.
Prior to joining Cisco, Den held a number of management positions in utilities, public sector and consulting.
Den lives in Dubai with his young family and has run the London Marathon on ten occasions.

Sabrina is an accomplished business leader with over 10 years Cisco experience encompassing finance, strategy, marketing and sales. Recognized for her transformational leadership and passion to formulate vision & strategy, Sabrina has an established track record of consistently delivering results.
From instigating behavioral change across Emerging Markets sales teams to creating the budget for the marketing of Cisco’s London 2012 role, Sabrina’s business credentials speak for themselves. Sabrina’s past accomplishments have included delivering a consistently high rated customer experience for Cisco events through building a new partner go-to-market strategy for the UK and Ireland as well as formulating the European sales strategy. Sabrina has always been orientated to make a difference and positively impact Cisco business. Indeed, in 2011, Sabrina received the accolade of the ‘UK Asian Women of the Year.’
Sabrina’s financial acumen coupled with a CIMA qualification has helped to provide a solid foundation to understanding the importance of P&L responsibility and more importantly, the metrics which Cisco considers paramount when measuring the success of its sales business.
Sabrina was also previously nominated to be part of the Cisco Accelerated Development Program, run for only the company’s 20 top performing employees each year. This has provided her with the invaluable leadership development and insight, for her current role as regional General Manager.

Ahmed Zaghmouri is a Contact Center expert with 14 years of experience in Contact Center strategy, technology and operations. He brings his thoughtful and insightful expertise to his clients and partners.
Ahmed started his career with Avaya, where he held variety of positions in the services, technical operations and consulting engineering. In 2011, Ahmed received the most prestigious Avaya Global Award “The Achievers Club” for his significant contribution to defend and grow Avaya Contact Center business in the Emerging.

As Learning Partner Channel Manager within the Worldwide Learning Partner Channel, Annelies Jutte is responsible for the development of the Learning Business in EMEAR. The group of Cisco Authorized Learning Partners in EMEAR consists of 130 companies delivering training in more than 75 countries.
Annelies has 9 years of experience in the ICT industry. Before joining Cisco in 2006, she worked for Philips Business Communications and Somera Communications. At Cisco, Annelies held various roles within the Dutch Sales and Channel Organisation. She started as Account Manager in the 'Business Services' vertical, moved on to being Account Manager for 'Large Accounts' and also worked as a Territory Business Manager in the 'Large Partner Segment'.
In 2012, she joined the Worldwide Learning Partner Channel team, where she is looking after a specific territory and driving various initiatives across EMEAR.

He travels and has technical discussions with most of the leading service providers in Emerging markets sharing the Cisco IPNGN vision for Service Providers. Charles Frank is a IT professional who has over 35 years of experience within IBM. From 1989 through 2005, he managed IBM's infrastructure consulting practices responsible for both the New York State and New York City governments. He was responsible for many major project during that time, including transforming New York States drivers licensing process to digital imaging, consolidating New York State data center infrastructure, migrating all New York City network traffic from a service provider based network to a city owned fiber network, and working with the New York City Police Department on the first major investment in Digital Video Surveillance in the post 9/11 timeframe. He was also responsible for major projects in the education sector, which included major network design and installation projects in the City University system of New York, the US Military Academy at West Point, and a large number of private higher education institutions in the Northeast US.

Danny Chami is currently responsible for SP Segment Sales in Emerging Markets. Prior to his current role, Danny spent over 7 years in a variety of Business Development roles in Emerging Markets, with focus on shaping Service Provider Core and Edge networks. Jacques-Philippe Roederer has 20 years experience in international sales management in the Information & Communication Technologies sector, mainly in the Service Provider space. JP joined Cisco in June 2011 to lead the Collaboration portfolio sales for Africa.
Prior to joining Cisco he worked for BT Global Services (ex British Telecom) as Sales Director for the Systems Integrators sector where he developed and managed very diverse and innovative go-to-market strategies (with both direct and indirect channels) in complex global environments.
Director - Public Sector, EMEAR
For more than 15 years, Jens Mortensen has been focused on Public Sector's usage of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) across the world.
In his current capacity as Director for Public Sector, EMEAR* he leads Cisco's Sales Business Development for Central Government and Healthcare.
In this role Jens acts as the lead in the development of Cisco's business- and sales initiatives focusing on Central Government and Healthcare which can meet the increasing needs arising within and around the Public Sector markets in EMEAR.
These solutions and initiatives consist of Cisco's well known networking and collaboration products as well as packaged vertical solutions which include offers from ISVs and Technology Partners who bring even further industry relevance into the final solution.
Prior to joining Cisco in 2006, he was leading Oracle's Public Sector business in Europe, Middle East & Africa - and for the last two decades he has been focussed on the ICT solutions & eGovernment within the Public Sector Markets.
Jens is an experienced speaker and presenter on Public Sector ICT trends, eGovernment and the specific challenges within the Public Sector's usage of technology.
Before turning his focus to the use of ICT within Public Sector, Jens held various positions as CFO and CEO in SME's within the service industries in Denmark and he has a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Management Accounting.
Mobility Product Sales Specialist, Africa
Karuna Ganas is a member of Cisco's Architecture team for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Russia (EMEAR). She is currently accountable for the Cisco Wireless business across Africa and is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Passionate about engineering and its practises from a young age, the growth in wireless technology and its business practises grabbed her attention whilst she completed her studies at university. As a result, she has been actively involved in wireless technology for over 8 years and over the past 7 years, she focused on gaining experience in Cisco networks which include wireless network design across various sectors, business development and product sales.
Prior to re-joining Cisco in 2011, Karuna was a Cisco Wireless Product Specialist with focus on enterprise design and business development at a large system integrator and one of Cisco's largest partners globally.
Karuna holds a BSc. Engineering degree with Hons. (Electrical - Light Current majoring in Telecommunications). One of her major projects in her final year included "Next Generation Networks": which focused on the service providers migration from GSM networks to 3G and 4G networks at the time and Digital Signal Processing. She started off her career at Cisco as an intern working on projects such as NEPAD and the Oprah Winfrey Academy for Girls whilst enhancing her knowledge on WiMAX technologies. She has participated in various IT publications representing Cisco on Wireless technology.
Dr Kevin Dunseath
Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Russia, CIS
Based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Dr Kevin Dunseath is Director of Education for Cisco in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Russia, developing strategies for engagement with ministries and other governmental agencies responsible for education as well as with educational institutions, both public and private. He plays a key role in encouraging and enabling education development across the regions, aligning Cisco's wide-ranging expertise and state-of-the-art solutions for the education sector.
Kevin's career spans more than 40 years in education, in both the secondary and higher education sectors. He has significant teaching and senior management experience at educational institutions across the world.
This experience includes leadership positions in Brunei, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the UK and Zambia. The universities at which Kevin has worked for significant periods include: London Business School, the University of Sheffield, the University of Exeter, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, the University of Sharjah and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.
A fully UK-qualified teacher, Kevin has a first degree in English from the University of Oxford and a MPhil degree in Linguistics from the University of Cambridge. In addition, he has both a MBA degree and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Sheffield. His doctoral thesis explored changing perceptions among government leaders, the media, and researchers themselves about the role and value of educational research in the UK in the late 20th century. Kevin has been an invited speaker at numerous international education conferences and events across the world.
Data Center & Virtualisation Specialist, East & Emerging South Africa
Lewis is responsible for Cisco's Data Center Virtualisation line of Business across East Africa and Southern Africa Markets.
His core responsibility is driving Converged Infrastructures and Cloud Computing strategies which are one of Cisco's fastest growing product streams globally.
Prior to running Cisco's Data Centre practice in east and Emerging South Africa, Lewis was responsible for driving strategic engagements as the Sub Saharan Africa Sales Manager for Global Knowledge in Dubai, VMware Cisco and EMC Technology Evangelist in Dimension Data East Africa and held a number of Management positions with a diverse set of companies operating across East Africa
Lewis has a B.Sc. in Computer Science from University of Sunderland, UK, and a Higher Graduate Diploma in Management of Information Systems from Strathmore University. He is currently engaged with a number of key Banking, Telcos and Government customers to drive Technology Innovation initiatives.
Lewis is an experienced speaker at regional conferences, CIO Events, Partner Summits and Cisco Customer Engagement.
Consulting Systems Engineer Collaboration Sub Saharan Africa
Moraks, as he is known, joined Cisco over 7 years ago as a Systems Engineer covering Public Sector.
He has extensive telecommunications experience spanning over 11 years having worked for a number of years with an ISP called Emperion West Africa headquartered in Denmark and prior to that with Resourcery Plc., the number one Systems Integrator in Nigeria and a Gold Cisco Partner. He graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife with a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering. He is a CCIE (Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert) and was the first person to be Cisco certified as a CCVP Voice as far back as 2001. He is also a Project Management Professional (PMP) and is TOGAF certified. He is currently doing an online course in Telecommunications Technology management at the University of Denver, Colorado.
He has worked extensively on multi complex and architectural opportunities, most notable of which was the Lagos State IP Video Surveillance Project. He is very well respected in the Industry as an authority on voice and collaboration. He was a Cisco Sales Champion in FY10.

Rachid Benadjal is a Consulting Systems Engineer at Cisco Systems involved in Cloud & Data Center designs and architectures. Rachid's expertise includes: end-to-end DC virtualization; applications background, routing, switching, Cloud Xaas integration.
During his more than fifteen years at Cisco, Rachid held different positions in post-sale and pre-sale area supporting customers as a TAC engineer, network consulting engineer (NCE), systems engineer and Consulting systems engineer. Before joining Cisco, Rachid worked at France Telecom. Rachid holds computers engineering degree from University of Orsay (France).

Security professional with more than 12 years of experience in the IT Security industry. Sameh is recognized as one of the early security specialists in Middle East and Africa. Sameh has held several positions in leading security firms during his career. Sameh is Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), certified ISO 27001:2005 Auditor and TOGAF Certified.

Engineering Lead for Eastern Africa - Responsibilities include leading technical operations in the region. He coordinates solutions positioning, design, deployment and support across all market segments comprising of Service Providers, Enterprise/Commercial and Public Sector. Prior to this Ted has been the lead systems engineer focusing on Service Provider customers in the region.
Sales Manager, EMEAR
Yasser joined Cisco in 2005 during the creation of the Connected Real Estate team in the Arabian Gulf Region. Since then, he has been a key member of the worldwide "Smart+Connected" initiative at Cisco starting in the Gulf Region, then the Emerging Markets Theatre, then the EMEAR Geo. As part of the Smart+Connected Communities Business Development team, he has actively led S+CC sales engagements in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Europe. In his current role he leads the Go-To-Market for Smart+Connected Communities in the UK, Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa.
