Deploying FabricPath in the Data Centre

The focus of this lab session is to demonstrate the Fabric Path feature which provides multipathing at scale within a loop-free Layer 2 domain. Of note, Fabric Path was previously named as L2MP and Trill in earlier Cisco documentation.

The lab will specifically provide attendees with access to a Nexus 7000 with the new F1 module required for use of the Fabric Path feature. In addition, the topology will include a Nexus 5000 and UCS C210 rack servers running VMware vSphere with the Nexus 1000V.

Each attendee for the lab will have the opportunity to (1) enable and configure Fabric Path feature on a Nexus 7000 (distribution and core), (2)configure vPC and Spanning Tree between a Nexus 5000 (access) and a Nexus 7000 (distribution), and (3) verify the Fabric path configuration and features by running VMware server traffic through the network. This lab will ultimately help the attendees gain an understanding of the benefits of a loop-free Layer 2 domain without the use of spanning tree that utilises FabricPath including the co-existence of FabricPath and vPC with Spanning tree for migration and transition.

Attendees will use Cisco Unified Communications Domain Manager (CUCDM) to enable subscriber provisioning in a cloud-based environment using a suite of Cisco Unified Applications over Unified Computing System (UCS).

Deploying MPLS Based Carrier Ethernet L2VPN Services over IP NGN

In this self guided lab session attendees will learn how to take advantage of the Cisco IP Next Generation (IP NGN) architectures to configure MPLS based Layer 2 VPN (L2VPN) services. This lab allows attendees to deploy Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) defined Point to point (E-Line) and Multipoint (E-LAN) services leveraging the Carrier class capabilities of Cisco Products. Attendees will use state of the art lab with ES-20 linecards on Cisco-7600 series routers along with dedicated ME-3400 switches as Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) and will have a deep dive into hand-on configuration and verification of core and access technologies including Ethernet over MPLS (EoMPLS), Virtual Private VLAN Services (VPLS), Hierarchical VPLS (H-VPLS), Ethernet Virtual Circuits (EVC) and more.

BGP PIC in Practice

Achieving the fast convergence on the edge is compulsory nowadays. The default BGP features are not enough. BGP PIC, BestExternal, AddPath, BFD and other features allow to lower convergence time to subsecond. Don't Gamble with your Data Centre – UCS + VIC Flexibility

This Lab session will demonstrate the flexibility of using UCS Service Profiles in conjunction with the flexibility of creating static vNICs on the Cisco VIC (Palo) adapter. The lab will conclude with a failure scenario that will demonstrate how quickly a failed host can be brought back online by simply transferring the personality of that failed server to a new UCS blade in a different chassis.
