This session serves as the primary exam tutorial for the Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE) Certification, with major focus on recent updates to the CCDE Certification track. The main objective of this session is to provide you with guidance on what areas to focus on when preparing and taking the exam. The session will offer preparation guidelines, resources, exam test taking strategies, and in-depth examples about the content. The session provides general program information including written and practical exam details followed by recent v2 updates to the CCDE Certification, and provides you with an overview of technologies and concepts emphasized in the CCDE written and CCDE practical exams. This session covers CCIE Routing & Switching Program updates, and provides you an in-depth overview of what is covered in both the written and the lab exams. This includes examples and lab exam case studies focusing on topics candidates frequently miss out during their lab attempt. The main objective of this session is to give you an overview of how the exams are conducted and to provide you good guidance on what you need to look at when preparing and taking the exams.

The session is mainly focusing on exam centric approaches and strategies and is not aimed at covering all technical topics susceptible to appear in the exams.

This all day session will focus on the products and technologies of the Unified Computing System along with connectivity to LAN and SAN networks. The attendees will not be required to be experts on UCS but should be highly interested in learning the core technologies leveraged within the Cisco Unified Computing System and how it supports a highly dynamic and programmatic control of the Compute, LAN, and SAN infrastructure. This session will begin with an introduction of the UCS components and features to bring the Network engineer, Storage admin, and Server admin up to the latest knowledge of hardware and technologies available with UCS. We will continue with configuration deployment best practices and protocol operations of connected compute, LAN and storage. We will also discuss design best practices for deployment and application uses, including a review of pertinent security topics inherent to a converged system. This session then wraps up with Management and troubleshooting methods for the new and advanced uses of the UCS, from XML to CLI navigation. This session will include live demonstrations on UCS throughout the day to enhance the learning experience.

The Data Centre technical seminar describes network design considerations to build state of the art networking infrastructure for Data Centres. This Technical Seminar consists of sections, which cover DC switching and fibre channel with special attention to the topics of 10/40/100 Gigabit Ethernet, virtualised environments, Unified IO and Data Centre Interconnect strategies.

Technologies include: FCoE, vPC, Fabric Path (based on TRILL), FEX (Fabric Extension), 802.1QBH/BR, VXLAN, OTV (Overlay Transport Virtualisation) and LISP.

Design best practices will be explained and typical Data Centre designs such as core/agg/access (including virtual access layer (VM-FEX/Nexus 1kv).

Blade Server networking is covered including connectivity variations such as pass-through, FEX, switching and also Cisco's highly awarded compute platform. Unified I/O (including FCoE) and data centre interconnect technologies; in particular OTV will also be covered in detail.

This technical seminar is a deep dive into the Cisco Unified Wireless Network (CUWN) architecture and fundamentals of design, deployment, and operations. We will look at the key building blocks of the CUWN, including the Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) and Control And Provisioning of Wireless Access Points (CAPWAP) protocols, current and next generation WLAN controllers, and the Cisco Prime Network Control System (NCS) with Cisco Spectrum Expert. In this session we will also look into the CUWN architecture - the core technologies that drive and enable mobility services (combination of enhanced security, location, voice, and guest capabilities) - and how to design and deploy. We will also spend considerable time on the latest in 802.11n developments and how Cisco customers can use this exciting new technology to increase predictability and reliability in their WLAN networks and enable more throughput. We will also look into Cisco CleanAir technology to detect, classify, locate, and mitigate sources of wireless interference to optimise network performance for mobility applications and deal with high density deployments.

The "Hands on Experience with IPv6 Routing and Services" Techtorial session will provide attendees an opportunity to configure, troubleshoot, design and implement an IPv6 network using IPv6 technologies and features such as: IPv6 addressing, IPv6 neighbour discovery, HSRPv6, static routing, OSPFv3, EIGRPv6 and BGPv6.

You will be provided with a scenario made up of an IPv4 network where you will get the opportunity to configure and implement IPv6 based on the requirements on the network.

For example where would you deploy dual stack, where it make sense to do tunnelling and how to deploy IPv6 routing protocols without impacting your existing Network infrastructure.

This session will be divided into two parts. First half (2-3 hours) will comprise of lectures around addressing, neighbour discovery, tunnelling and routing. Second half (4-5) hours will be for hands on labs. For those who are familiar with basic IPv6 concepts, there will be optional labs on advanced IPv6 services. This session is a deep dive on 802.1X and the technologies that make up Cisco’s TrustSec solution. This includes the functions of access control and the application of policy derived from end-point profiling, Security Group Tags (SGTs), Network Device Admission Control (NDAC), guest access, change of authorisation, and MACSec. With these technologies businesses can address many existing and emerging network access control issues, such as regulatory compliance, virtualisation, and guest services. This session will provide a platform independent introduction to the IOS XR operating system (which is used for the CRS-1, ASR 9000, and 12000 series routers).
The 8 hour session will be 50% presentations and 50% lab activities. As an intro level session, there are no prerequisites other having a working laptop for each group of attendees. The platforms will not be covered during the session, but the instructors will be able to answer platform questions during the lab time.
The presentations will introduce the fundamentals of IOS XR including the operating system architecture, CLI changes from IOS, Routing Protocols, and Route Policy Language for route manipulation. Basic troubleshooting and a select set of features unique to XR will also be covered.

Centralised Communications, particularly centralised dialplan and SIP trunking have became a very popular solution in Enterprise networks. This technical seminar will cover in detail the concepts and design of centralised communications, SIP trunking and basic to advanced dial plan implementation.

During the day, you will learn about design considerations for SIP trunking within the Enterprise (i.e. between call agents) and at the Enterprise edge (i.e. for IP PSTN services) with CUCM 8.x releases which adds significant new trunking functionality. This session covers the design aspects for a successful deployment of SIP Trunks with Unified CM. These considerations include redundancy, availability, load-balancing, security, addressing, interoperability etc. The session will also cover the usage of SIP for interconnecting Cisco Unified Communications Manager clusters (using Intercluster Trunks), connecting to Cisco Unified Border Element and Gateways

The Technical Seminar will also cover in detail the various dial plan elements with a concentration on Enterprise dial plan design. Attendees learn how closest match routing works, how partitions and calling search spaces function, and the various constructs available to route calls. Other concepts such as class of service, alternate routing, translation patterns and overlap dialling. The session will then delve into more detailed dial-plan design guidelines for each of the Cisco IP telephony deployment models based on Cisco Unified Communications Manager, with recommended best practices to help ensure successful and scalable deployments.

This Technical session is aimed at Unified Communications network planners and designers and architects. It will provide detailed technical guidance on designing and deploying centralised UC and dialplan environments.
