Problem Description

Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1(9)CA1 integrates the solution for caveat CSCdi89690.
CSCdi89690 Symptom
-
VIP2 interface processors loaded with HSSI port adapters, in both slots, may experience CRCs, overruns, and underruns.

Cisco 7200 systems with HSSI ports may experience CRCs, overruns, and underruns.
Workaround/Solution
Workaround
If a software upgrade is not a option, the workaround is:

Remove the second HSSI port adapter. Only one PA-H port adapter should be installed on a VIP2.

There is no workaround for the Cisco 7200.
Solution

Upgrade the Cisco IOS to Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1(9)CA1 and follow the configurations recommended below.
Note:?As standard practice when installing new hardware, also upgrade the boot image (rsp-boot-mz.111-9.CA1 or c7200-boot-m.111-8.CA1) to the Cisco IOS version the hardware is released on or greater.
Supported Configurations
The following configurations are recommended after Cisco IOS Software Release 11.1(9)CA1 is installed.
RSP Based Systems:

Cisco recommends the following HSSI configurations on a single VIP2 until further notice.
VIP2-15, VIP2-20 or VIP2-40 configurations:

Cisco 7200 Systems:

Cisco recommends installing no more than three PA-H in a Cisco 7200 system (PA-2H is not recommended at this time), while running Cisco IOS software Release 11.1(9)CA1, until further notice.
