Certain X2-10GB-LX4 may occasionally go into a disable state randomly causing the link to go down.
Cisco has discovered that the above X2-10GB-LX4 from a particular vendor have a potential to go into a disable mode. This could result in the link going down.
One of the following symptoms may be seen on affected units:
- The link does not come up at all.
- It takes a long time (5-15 minutes) for the link to come up.
- Link comes up but then goes down after some time.
Customers can use the normal RMA process to order a replacement part.
CISCO TAC: When using the standard RMA process to replace these units, please use the code ARFN (Administrative Request Field Notice).
How To Identify Hardware Levels
This issue only affects the parts with the following Serial Numbers AND Hardware Versions :
All the modules with:
1) Hardware version (VID)= V01 or V02
2)Serial Number = BEPxxxxxxxx or BEXxxxxxxxx
Following are pictures of X2-10GB-LX4 showing the Serial Number and Hardware version (VID):
Customers can use the command
show inv on Cat4500, Cat4900 and Cat6500 to find out the Serial Number (S/N) and Hardware Version (VID) of their modules. Below is an example of
show inv output where information on X2-10GB-LX4 is in bold format:
