Only units with two hard drives are affected |
Problem Description
Some CE-510-K9 with dual drives were not properly loaded in manufacturing and will not boot correctly.
Background
The manufacturing process did not complete properly for some CE-510-K9 units with dual disk drives and the system's Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) settings need to be saved.
Problem Symptoms
CE-510-K9 with dual drives does not boot to the Cisco Application and Content Networking Software (ACNS) prompt.
Workaround/Solution
If a CE-510-K9 with dual drives will not boot properly do the following:
-
Press F1 during the boot sequence to go into the BIOS system setup program.
-
Select exit.
-
Select the option to save changes and exit.
The system will reboot and the ACNS software should now boot properly.
How To Identify Hardware Levels
This failure is not tied to a particular hardware version. To determine if your unit has multiple drives, check your Purchase Order or physically inspect the unit.
If the cover is removed from the top of the CE-510-K9, the customer can readily see whether the device has one drive or two drives and whether the cables are connected correctly. One drive resides under the compact disc read-only memory (CD-ROM) drive. The other drive resides under the flash memory module. Also, during boot, there is a couple of seconds in which a blue bar is displayed at the top of the screen containing yellow text that shows the BIOS setup. This shows what drives are attached.
