Problem Description
If the Cisco Content Delivery Network (CDN) installation wizard cannot find your CE-507-CDN, CE-590-CDN, or CM-4630, your CDN device may have been configured to boot from flash instead of from disk. The CDN software must be booted from disk. To determine if this is your problem, connect a console to the device to determine if the unit is continually attempting to boot from disk.
Background
Some CE-507-CDNs, CE-590-CDNs, and CDM-4630s were shipped from manufacturing with the flag set to boot from flash instead of from disk. The CDN software needs to be loaded from disk. Manufacturing has since rectified this problem, however some units in the field may be configured to boot from flash. If a CE-507-CDN, CE-590-CDN, or CDM-4630 was ordered and the CDN installation wizard cannot find them, then connect a console to the device. If the unit is constantly attempting to boot from flash with no success, then the unit must be configured to boot from disk.
Problem Symptoms
If the CE-507-CDN, CE-590-CDN, or CDM-4630 cannot be found through the CDN installation wizard, then connect a console to the device. If the serial communication with the unit reveals that the it is continuously attempting to boot from flash, then the unit must be configured to boot from disk.
If your CDN device is booting from flash you will see the following on the console session:
Workaround/Solution
