Cisco 7500 Series |
With an RSP1, RSP2, RSP4, RSP8, RSP7000 |
Problem Description
The OSPF updates may be corrupted in the Cisco 7500 Series router configured with OSPF, MPLS and CEF. IP routes are temporarily deleted from the IP routing table and a loss of connectivity may occur.
Background
Root cause of CSCdr48014: Not enough cache lines are invalidated when tag packets are switched.
Problem Symptoms
To reproduce this problem the UUT (a MPLS P router) must be forwarding some transient MPLS VPN traffic. We've found 20 pps is enough to recreate this reliably.
The UUT must be using the tag *feature* path. If the turbo path is used, the problem is not seen.
Here is a sample error from a POS interface:
*May 31 20:06:45.212: %OSPF-4-ERRRCV: Received invalid packet: Bad Checksum from 10.3.0.1, POS5/0/0 *May 31 20:06:55.212: %OSPF-4-ERRRCV: Received invalid packet: Bad Checksum from 10.3.0.1, POS5/0/0 *May 31 20:07:05.212: %OSPF-4-ERRRCV: Received invalid packet: Bad Checksum from 10.3.0.1, POS5/0/0
Workaround/Solution
Workaround/ Possible Workaround
Configure the ip cef global configuration command. Then execute the copy running start command and reload. Cisco has found cases that theoretically indicate that CSCdr48014 can occur with non-VIP images and CEF.
Alternative workaround
Enter the memory cache-policy io uncached command.
Note: Be advised that entering this command might sacrifice packet switching performance.
Solution
Upgrade to the following maintenance releases shown in the solution table below.
