Cisco Systems® announces the end of life of the Cisco® Secure Policy Manager version 2.X and 3.X applications for managing Cisco firewall products, IPSec, and Cisco VPN routers. The last day to order the Cisco Secure Policy Manager 2.X and 3.X applications—either in standalone form or as part of the CiscoWorks VPN/Security Management Solution (VMS) 2.1—is December 31, 2002. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until December 31, 2005. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco Secure Policy Manager 2.X and 3.X applications. Table 2 provides a listing of affected product part numbers.

Customers are encouraged to migrate to the latest CiscoWorks VMS software release which provides enhanced device support, security management enhancements, server operating system, and client browser support.

At the time of this posting, CiscoWorks VMS 2.2 is the recommended migration path for Cisco Secure Policy Manager 2.X and 3.X customers to use. Many of Cisco Secure Policy Manager's functions are provided in the Management Center for Firewalls 1.2.2 release that is part of the CiscoWorks VMS 2.2 solution. Table 3 provides details about migration options consistent with CiscoWorks VMS 2.2. The last date to order the product through Cisco point-of-sale mechanisms. The product is no longer for sale after this date.

Last shipment date

The last-possible ship date that can be requested of Cisco and/or its contract manufacturers. Actual ship date is dependent on lead-time.

July 20, 2003

End of software maintenance releases date

The last date that Cisco Engineering may release any final software maintenance releases or bug fixes. After this date, Cisco Engineering will no longer develop, repair, maintain, or test the product software.

End of new service attachment date

For equipment and software that is not covered by a service-and-support contract, this is the last date to order a new service-and-support contract or add the equipment and/or software to an existing service-and-support contract.

End of service contract renewal date

The last date to extend or renew a service contract for the product. The extension or renewal period cannot extend beyond the last date of support.

Last date of support

The last date to receive service and support for the product. After this date, all support services for the product are unavailable, and the product becomes obsolete.

Customers with Cisco Secure Policy Manager 2.X standalone (LITE) or 3.X that is offered with the VMS solution, are encouraged to migrate to the CiscoWorks VMS 2.2 upgrade releases using the following ordering information:
