Introduction
A POP3 server is a place where messages reside until recipients retrieve them. The well known POP3 port number is TCP port 110 based on RFC 1700. Cisco E-Mail Manager makes the connection to the POP3 server, retrieves messages from one or more POP3 mailboxes, and processes them using system rules.
Q. How can I change the POP3 port number used by Cisco E-Mail Manager?
A. The POP3 port is the port that Cisco E-Mail Manager binds to when connecting to POP3 servers to retrieve incoming mail. The default POP3 port value is TCP port 110 for Cisco E-Mail Manager. Cisco E-Mail Manager establishes sessions with POP3 servers through TCP port 110. In order to make a successful connection, it is necessary for the POP3 server to listen on TCP port 110. It does not have an option to change the POP3 port number. Therefore, Cisco E-Mail Manager can only communicate with POP3 servers that listen on TCP port 110.
