End-of-Sale Announcement for
Cisco Intrusion Detection System 4230 Platform

Introduction

With the introduction of the enhanced Cisco Intrusion Detection System (IDS) 4235 Appliance Sensor, Cisco Systems announces the end of sale (EOS) of the Cisco IDS 4230 platform.

Affected Part Numbers

This announcement affects product number Cisco IDS-4230-E.

Product Substitution

The recommended replacement product for the Cisco IDS 4230-FE is the Cisco IDS 4235. This platform offers enhanced performance, a smaller form factor, and a 10/100/1000 network interface card (NIC). The Cisco IDS 4235 provides up to a 50 percent improvement in performance over the Cisco IDS 4230 at a lower price. In addition, the Cisco IDS 4235 has a one-rack-unit chassis and can be positioned in gigabit environments because it supports a 10/100/1000 sniffing interface.
