Cisco Intrusion Detection System 4220 Platform

Introduction

Cisco Systems announces the end of sale (EOS) of the Cisco Intrusion Detection System (IDS) 4220 platform.

This announcement affects product number Cisco IDS-4220-E.

Product Substitution

The recommended replacement product for the Cisco IDS 4220 is the Cisco IDS 4210. This platform offers enhanced performance and a smaller form factor. The Cisco IDS 4210 has a one-rack-unit chassis and can monitor up to 45 Mbps of traffic. All Cisco IDS software release trains (2.5.0 and 3.0) support this platform, allowing customers to easily transition to the Cisco IDS 4210.

Support

Cisco will continue to provide support through the Cisco SMARTnet™ service program. Cisco is committed to providing hardware support for this product for a period of five years after the EOS date.
