End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the Cisco PA-A2 Line of Circuit Emulation Port Adapters for the Cisco 7200 Series Router
Cisco Systems® announces the end of life of the PA-A2 line of Cisco® 7000 Series Circuit Emulation Services (CES) port adapters for the Cisco 7200 Series Router. The last day to order the Cisco PA-A2 line is December 1, 2004. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until December 1, 2009. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco PA-A2 line of port adapters.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco PA-A6 line of enhanced ATM port adapters. The PA-A6 port adapters are single slot port as compared to the dual wide PA-A2s which take up two slots of the Cisco 7200. The PA-A6 supports 8000 virtual circuits (VCs) per line card as opposed to the PA-A2, which supported 2000 VCs. The PA-A6 line also supports various features not supported on the PA-A2 including VoATM w/VoIP over ATM Adaption Layer 2 (AA), VoIP over ATM, Advanced Traffic Shaping per VC, Dynamic Bandwidth Selection, Unspecified Bit Rate +(UBR+), California Roll Lite, Autosense, and Single Cell Packed Relay.
