Cisco 1701, 1711, and 1712 Security Routers Increase Default DRAM to 96 MB; No Increase to List Prices
Cisco® 1701, 1711, and 1712 security routers provide high-performance VPN and firewall solutions to small and midsize businesses and enterprise small branch offices. Effective February 16, 2004, the default DRAM memory configuration for these routers will be upgraded from 64 to 96 MB, while the Flash memory will remain unchanged at 32 MB. The additional 32 MB of DRAM is provided in the form of a 32-MB dual in-line memory module (DIMM) that will be inserted in the internal DIMM slot.
Additional DRAM is being provided to help ensure that Cisco 1701, 1711, and 1712 security routers will be able to support new versions of Cisco IOS® Software that deliver new and more powerful security features. The additional memory will allow customers, resellers, and service providers to greatly benefit from the enhanced capabilities that Cisco IOS Software offers, both today and in the future. Upgrading memory through software changes also protects investments because it removes the need to make truck rolls or send out service staff to manually upgrade hardware.
