IPSec Preferred Peer gives greater control in specifying if a peer in an IPSec crypto map will be activated as a backup in the case of failure.
When defining multiple peers in a crypto map, if the first peer is designated "Default", it prevents the advancing of peers from being triggered by a DPD failure. Only retransmits or idle timer-based failures will advance to the next peer.
