End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the Cisco ONS 15600 Core Cross-Connect Card
Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco® ONS 15600 Core Cross-Connect Card (CXC). The last day to order the affected product is November 28, 2006. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until November 27, 2011. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
SONET customers are encouraged to migrate to Cisco ONS 15600 Release 5.x or later and replace with the Cisco ONS 15600 Core Cross-Connect Card (SSXC). SDH customers are encouraged to migrate to Cisco ONS 15600 Release 8.x and replace with the Cisco ONS 15600 Core Cross-Connect Card (SSXC). Table 2 provides relevant information for migrating to the replacement product.

Product Migration Options
The recommended replacement for the Cisco ONS 15600 Core Cross-Connect Card (CXC) is the Cisco ONS 15600 Core Cross-Connect Card (SSXC).
Currently there are no customers required to trade in products listed in Table 2, as they took part in the 15600 CXC-to-SSXC program described in the Field Notice (FN-61836) at: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/products/hw/optical/ps4533/products_field_notice09186a0080369cf0.shtml.
Customers can use the Cisco Technology Migration Plan (TMP) to trade in products and receive credit toward the purchase of new Cisco equipment. For more information about Cisco TMP, go to: http://www.cisco.com/go/tradein/. The Cisco TMP application requires all users to have a Cisco.com user ID.
Customers may be able to continue to purchase the end-of-sale product through the Cisco Authorized Refurbished Equipment program. Refurbished units of the end-of-sale product are available in limited supply for sale in certain countries on a first-come, first-served basis.
