End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the E1N-14 Card, Related FMECs, and Associated Cables for the Cisco ONS 15454 SDH Multiservice Provisioning Platform
Cisco Systems® announces the end of life of the E1N-14 electrical card, the related 75-ohm and 120-ohm Front-Mount Electrical Connection (FMEC) cards, and associated cables for the Cisco® ONS 15454 SDH Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP). The last day to order the Cisco E1N-14 card and related parts for the Cisco ONS 15454 SDH MSPP is April 15, 2004. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until April 15, 2009. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco E1N-14 part. Table 2 outlines the Cisco product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to begin deploying the Cisco ONS 15454 E-E1-42 electrical card, which provides higher density at a lower price point per E1 service.

End-of-life announcement date
The date the document that announces the end of sale and end of life of a product is distributed to the general public.
October 15, 2003
The last date to order the product through Cisco point-of-sale mechanisms. The product is no longer for sale after this date.
April 15, 2004
Last shipment date
The last-possible ship date that can be requested of Cisco and/or its contract manufacturers. Actual ship date is dependent on lead time.
July 15, 2004
End of routine failure analysis date
The last possible date a routine failure analysis may be performed to determine the cause of product failure or defect.

End of new service attachment date
For equipment and software that is not covered by a service-and-support contract, this is the last date to order a new service-and-support contract or add the equipment and/or software to an existing service-and-support contract.

End of service contract renewal date
The last date to extend or renew a service contract for the product. The extension or renewal period cannot extend beyond the last date of support.

Product Migration Options
The replacement for the Cisco E1N-14 card is the Cisco E1-42 card. Compatibility between cards is supported because both are compliant with ITU-T G.703 E1 specifications. Circuits between an E1N-14 and an E1-42 card can be provisioned with Cisco Transport Controller or Cisco Transport Manager.
