End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement
for the Cisco CTE 1400 Series
Content Transformation Engine
Cisco Systems announces the End-of-Life of the Cisco CTE 1400 Series Content Transformation Engine which includes the Cisco CTE 1400 and CTE 1450 products. The last day to order the Cisco CTE 1400 Series Content Transformation Engine is February 01, 2004. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until February 01, 2009. Additional support options may be available from Net6 Inc., the Cisco original equipment manufacturer (OEM) software supplier for the CTE 1400 Series. Please contact Net6 directly to understand what support options may be available to you. In the event that Net6 is able to address your support requirements, you will need to enter into a contractual arrangement directly with them.
Product Migration Options
The recommended replacement for the Cisco CTE 1400 and CTE 1450 is the Transformation Gateway (TG) product line from Net6 ( http://www.net6.com). Net6 is the OEM software supplier for the Cisco CTE 1400 Series and is currently part of the Cisco AVVID Partner Program. The Net6 Transformation Gateway provides the same functions as the Cisco CTE 1400 Series, but is licensed differently. Comparisons between the Cisco CTE 1400 Series and Net6 TG can be found below in Table 1.

Q. Who is Net6?
A. Net6 is Cisco's OEM partner for the CTE 1400 Series product line. You can find more information about Net6 at http://www.net6.com
Q. Will Net6 sell the Cisco CTE 1400 and CTE 1450?
A. Net6 will sell the Net6 Transformation Gateway (TG) product line, which is similar to the Cisco CTE in performance and functions.
Q. Can I go to Net6 for support and future product development for my Cisco CTE 1400 Series?
A. Cisco has been advised by Net6 that, depending on your support requirements, Net6 will be able to provide product support for Cisco CTE customers that purchase Net6 service contracts. Net6 has also advised Cisco that they will make new major product releases available for purchase to Cisco CTE customers. Please contact Net6 to determine to what extent they may be able to address your ongoing support requirements.
Q. Will Cisco TAC still support the Cisco CTE 1400 and CTE 1450?

Q. What if I need professional services support for my Cisco CTE or Net6 TG product?
A. Net6 advises Cisco that it offers professional services to customers requiring special or complex transformations.
Q. What happens if Cisco introduced a new line or family of IP display appliances?
A. Net6 will develop driver interfaces for all new Cisco browser-based display appliances.
Q. How are the Cisco CTE and Net6 TG different?
A. The only difference between the two products is the pricing/packaging and the hardware platform.
