End-of-Sale and End-of-Life Announcement for the
Cisco LocalDirector 417 and Cisco LocalDirector 417G
Cisco Systems® announces the end of life of the Cisco® LocalDirector 417 and LocalDirector 417G. The last day to order the Cisco LocalDirector 417 and 417G is December 1, 2003. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until December 1, 2008. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco LocalDirector 417 and 417G.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco CSS 11500 Series Content Services Switch or the Content Switching Module (CSM) for the Catalyst® 6500 Series Switch, which offer extended features, performance, and scalability. Information about these products is available at: http://www.cisco.com/go/css11500 and http://www.cisco.com/go/csm . Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating from the Cisco LocalDirector products to the Cisco CSS 11500 Series or Cisco CSM.

Product Migration Options
The recommended replacement for the Cisco LocalDirector is the Cisco CSS 11501 or CSM (Table 3). The Cisco CSS 11501 or CSM for the Catalyst 6500 Series offer extended features, performance, and scalability.
