Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of life dates for the Cisco 7500 Series Router. The last day to order the Cisco 7500 Series Router is December 15, 2007. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL bulletin.

Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco 7500 Series Router. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Cisco offers several different products to help customers migrate from the Cisco 7500 Series Router. For service provider applications, customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco 12000 Series Router. Customers may consider the Cisco 7600 or 10000 Series Router as an alternative solution, depending on requirements. For enterprise WAN deployments, customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco 7600 Series Router, 7200 Series Router, or Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Switch. Table 3 provides relevant information for service providers and Table 4 provides relevant information for enterprise companies migrating from the Cisco 7500 Series Router. Additional information about the replacement product can be found at the Websites below.

The last-possible ship date that can be requested of Cisco and/or its contract manufacturers. Actual ship date is dependent on lead time.

End of SW Maintenance Releases Date:

OS SW

The last date that Cisco Engineering may release any final software maintenance releases or bug fixes. After this date, Cisco Engineering will no longer develop, repair, maintain, or test the product software.

End of Routine Failure Analysis Date:

HW

The last-possible date a routine failure analysis may be performed to determine the cause of product failure or defect.

End of New Service Attachment Date:

For equipment and software that is not covered by a service-and-support contract, this is the last date to order a new service-and-support contract or add the equipment and/or software to an existing service-and-support contract.

The Cisco 12000 Gigabit Switch Router with PRP-2 provides high-speed and scalable L2 and L3 PE/P feature set. The new SIP/SPA interfaces provide a comprehensive set of interface options from DS0 to OC-192 and 10GE. The common SPA offers investment protection and operational efficiencies as it is supported on multiple platforms. With its new IOX operating system the Cisco 12000 Gigabit Switch Router is able to extend its industry leading high-availability features by offering features such as ISSU and virtual routing with IOS XR.

The Cisco 7200 Series Router with NPE-G2 is a cost effective migration option for the Cisco 7500. The 7200 Series Router offers investment protection for customers that wish to reuse their existing port adapters. The Cisco 7200 is ideal for deployments up to OC-3, while providing feature parity with the Cisco 7500 including token ring and BRI/IDSN. The Cisco 7200 series router offers IPSEC and legacy protocols, which may be extremely helpful.
