Cisco Systems® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco® 7401 Series of Product which includes CISCO7401ASR-BB, CISCO7401ASR-CP, and CISCO7401ASR-CPT3. The last day to order the Cisco 7401 ASR Series is December 30, 2004. Customers will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until October 30, 2009. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the Cisco 7401 ASR Series. Table 2 lists the product numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco 7301, a follow-on design to the Cisco 7401. The Cisco 7301 has a 1RU form factor and provides up to three times the performance of Cisco 7401. In addition, it includes three built-in 10/100/1000 ports with a default memory of 256 MB upgradable to 1 GB.
Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating from the Cisco 7401 ASR Series to the Cisco 7301 Series of Routers.

The last possible date a routine failure analysis may be performed to determine the cause of product failure or defect. This will only be done on 12.3T and 12.3M Trains of IOS release.

For equipment and software that is not covered by a service-and-support contract, this is the last date to order a new service-and-support contract or add the equipment and/or software to an existing service-and-support contract.
