Overview
Cisco is announcing Cisco IOS® Software for the new Cisco® Catalyst® 2975 Switch with LAN Base software. The Cisco Catalyst 2975 LAN Base Switch is a fixed-configuration stackable intelligent Ethernet switch with Power over Ethernet (PoE) and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, enabling enhanced LAN services for commercial branch office networks. The Cisco Catalyst 2975 LAN Base Switch offers integrated security, including Network Admission Control (NAC), enhanced quality of service (QoS), and resiliency, to deliver intelligent services for the network edge.

This product bulletin describes the content and delivery information about Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(46)EX, which is the first Cisco IOS Software release that provides support for the Cisco Catalyst 2975 LAN Base Switch. Release 12.2(46)EX is an early deployment (ED) release based on Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(46)SE. Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(46)EX should not be used for any switch other than the Cisco Catalyst 2975 LAN Base Switch.
The platform and features delivered with this ED release will be incorporated into Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(52)SE and subsequent Cisco IOS Software 12.2SE releases. It is important to note that there are no planned maintenance releases for this ED release. In addition, note the migration path to the latest 12.2SE release (Figure 1). Customers should prepare to upgrade using this migration path.

This release contains all the features found in the LAN Base Image feature set of Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(46)SE.
