About Golden Templates

This chapter explains one of two installation scenarios for Packaged CCE—building golden templates for Cisco Systems contact center applications in your lab and exporting them to the customer site.

Note

The other scenario is to install virtual machines directly at the customer site. If you do not plan to create golden templates, skip this chapter and go to Chapter 3: Direct Installation.

Golden templates are master copies of contact center applications that can be reused for many customers. Creating golden templates gives you a clonable set of the base installation and configuration for core applications. You then import them at a customer site and customize them for that customer.

Golden templates are built on a source system, which is a server controlled by a partner or service provider. Once the golden templates are built, you process the golden templates for deployment as virtual machines (VMs) on the pair of destination servers at the customer site.

The sequence is:

  1. Download the OVA files. See Open Virtualization Files
  2. Create golden templates.
  3. Run the automation process to export the golden templates to your laptop.
  4. Transport the golden template files to the customer site.
  5. Run the automation process to import the golden templates to the customer destination servers.
  6. Perform post-import steps.
  7. Perform initial configuration for customer use.

Create Golden Templates

Create a Golden Template for the Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise Call Server

Follow this sequence of tasks to create a golden template for the CCE Call Server. This golden template will be deployed as two virtual machines at the customer site—one on Side A and one on Side B.

After you run the automation process, you can configure the CCE Call Servers for the destination system. See Unified CCE Call Server.

Create a Golden Template for the Cisco Unified Contact Center Enterprise Data Server

Follow this sequence of tasks to create the golden template for the CCE Data Server. This golden template will be deployed as two virtual machines at the customer site—one on Side A and one on Side B.

After you run the automation process, you can configure the CCE Data Server VM on the destination system. See Unified CCE Data Server.

Create Golden Templates for the Cisco Unified Customer Voice Portal Servers

Follow this sequence of tasks to create golden templates for the Unified CVP Call/VXML servers and for the Unified CVP OAMP server.
  • The Unified CVP Call/VXML servers are deployed as four virtual machines at the customer site—two on Side A and two on Side B.
  • The Unified CVP OAMP server is deployed as one virtual machine on Side A.

This process is similar for the Call/VXML and the OAMP servers—the differences are selections you make from the OVA dropdown and in the Select Packages options during the installation.

Sequence

Task

1 Using CCE-PAC-M1-CVP.ova, Create a virtual machine from the OVA.
From the drop-down list:
  • Select CVP Call Server when you create the Call Server VM.
  • Select CVP OAMP Server when you create the CVP OAMP Server VM.
2 Install Windows Server 2008
3 Install VMware tools for VMs on Windows
4 Configure network adapters for Customer Voice Portal
5 Run Windows updates
6 Install anti-virus software
7 Install Unified CVP server
8 Copy files to CVP

After you run the automation process, you can configure the Unified CVP VMs on the destination system. See Unified Customer Voice Portal.

Create Golden Template for Unified CVP Reporting Server

Follow this sequence of tasks to create a golden template for the Unified CVP Reporting Server.

After you run the automation process, you can configure the Unified CVP Reporting Server on the destination system. See See Cisco Unified Customer Voice Portal Reporting Server.

Create a Golden Template for Cisco Unified Communications Manager

Follow this sequence of tasks to create a golden template for Cisco Unified Communications Manager on Side A.

Sequence

Task

1 Using CCE-PAC-M1-CUCM.ova, Create a virtual machine from the OVA. Select 7500 user node from the drop-down list.
2 Install the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Publisher. Golden Template install for VOS-based contact center applications.

After you run the automation process, you can configure the Unified Communications Manager publisher and subscriber VM on the destination system. See Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

Create a Golden Template for Cisco Finesse

Follow this sequence of tasks to create a golden template for the Cisco Finesse Primary Node.

Sequence

Task

1 Using the CCE-PAC-M1-Finesse.ova, Create a virtual machine from the OVA. There is no selection from the drop-down list.
2 Install the Cisco Finesse Primary Node. Golden Template install for VOS-based contact center applications.

After you run the automation process, you can configure Cisco Finesse on the destination system. See Cisco Finesse.

Create a Golden Template for Cisco Unified Intelligence Center

Follow this sequence of tasks to create a golden template for the Cisco Unified Intelligence Center Publisher Node.

Sequence

Task

1 Using the CCE-PAC-M1-CUIC.ova, Create a virtual machine from the OVA. There is no selection from the drop-down list.
2 Install the Cisco Unified Intelligence Center. Golden Template install for VOS-based contact center applications.

After you run the automation process, you can configure the Cisco Unified Intelligence Center VMs on the destination system. See Cisco Unified Intelligence Center.
