Support for the AppleTalk suite of protocols, related features, and commands has been removed in
Cisco IOS Release 15.0(1)M and later releases.
Your software release may not support all the features documented in this module. For the latest feature information and caveats, see the release notes for your platform and software release. To find information about the features documented in this module, and to see a list of the releases in which each feature is supported, see the "Feature Information for AppleTalk Support Discontinuation" section.

•Feature Information for AppleTalk Support Discontinuation
AppleTalk protocol was designed by Apple Inc. to connect Macintosh computers to printers and file servers in small workgroups. AppleTalk protocol was later deployed in larger LAN and WAN configurations. As TCP/IP protocols have become the predominant customer choice, Cisco had retained the AppleTalk protocols among its Cisco IOS software offering to satisfy the demand in some niche markets such as, education and scientific communities.
Because of a significant decrease in the usage and demand for Appletalk protocol and now with full support of the TCP/IP family of protocols by Apple, Cisco has decided to discontinue AppleTalk support on Cisco IOS software.
The AppleTalk feature removal will be permanent and applies to all Cisco IOS releases after Release 15.0(1)M.
The following AppleTalk features are obsolete and no longer available:
•AppleTalk Phase 1 and Phase 2 support
•AppleTalk Update-Based Routing Protocol (AURP)
