The Cisco RFGW-10 is a Carrier Class Universal Edge Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (UEQAM) platform that offers concurrent support for Standard and High Definition Digital Broadcast Television, Switched Digital Video (SDV), Video on Demand (VoD), and DOCSIS/Modular CMTS services. It is a chassis based product based on open standard with superior performance, capacity, power consumption, ease of management and scalability. All components of the Cisco RFGW-10 are designed for high availability including dual supervisor and Ethernet switching line cards, N+1 Universal Edge QAM line cards, dual timing and control line cards, due load balancing and load sharing power supplies and integrated RF switching modules.
The Cisco RFGW-10 is targeted to Cable Operators worldwide, and is optimized for operators wanting to provide carrier class high availability solutions and wanting to collapse video and data over cable EQAM functions into one common platform. An integrated Universal EQAM achieves the business benefits such as EQAM resource utilization gains, cost efficiencies, rack space optimization, reduced cost and complexity of management and high availability for all services. The Cisco RFGW-10 is part of Cisco’s Cable ecosystem, and is fully integrated and tested as part of the Cisco Digital Broadband Delivery System (DBDS) video solution and Cisco uBR10012 DOCSIS 3.0 and Modular CMTS solution.

The Cisco RFGW-10 runs the Cisco IOS software, which is stored on the compact flash memory disks stored in the two PCMCIA slots in the primary and secondary Supervisor modules.
The supervisor module also stores the system configuration in the onboard flash memory. The configuration information read from the flash memory is buffered in operational memory following system initialization, and is written to the flash memory device when the configuration is saved.
To determine the version of Cisco IOS software running on the Cisco RFGW-10, log in to the router and enter the show version command in privileged EXEC mode. For example:
An upgrade is an order placed for a Cisco IOS® feature set that contains more functionality than the one you are replacing. And upgrade is not an update. An update involves installing a more recent version of the feature set. Exception— If a feature set has been made obsolete, the next, closest feature set, on a more recent release, will be considered an update.
Note Upgrading to a new software release may take a long time. When upgrading to the Cisco RFGW-10, execute the show cable heartbeat command to verify if all line cards are up and ready.
Note Upgrading from Cisco IOS-XE Release 3.2.0SQ to Cisco IOS-XE Release 3.3.0SQ may take up to 20 minutes on each Cisco RFGW-10 DS-384 line card.
