Cisco Unified Presence Hardware Compatibility

This section describes the hardware compatibility for the following server types:

MCS servers

UCS servers and other servers with VMware

Caution For Cisco Unified Presence Release 8.6(4) and later there are increased memory and hard disk requirements. Release 8.6(4) and later requires 6 GB of memory for MCS-7845 servers. Refer to the table footnotes for more information about hard disk requirements.

MCS Server Compatibility

Note For Release 8.0(1), Cisco Unified Presence does not support MCS-xxxx-I1 or MCS-xxxx-H1servers. However, a bridged upgrade is available to customers who need to migrate from any of the discontinued hardware to supported hardware.

Table 1 shows the MCS servers that Cisco Unified Presence supports from Release 8.0(1) to Release 8.6(x).

Legend:

If you are deploying two or more nodes in your Cisco Unified Presence installation, use the multi-node feature in Cisco Unified Presence and ensure that your hardware is compatible with this feature. This is necessary for both a fresh install and upgrade of Cisco Unified Presence.

Number of Microsoft Office Communicator Users Supported For Remote Call Control

The Cisco Unified Communications Manager server that you use determines how many users are supported when interoperating with Microsoft Office Communicator for Remote Call Control. Remote Call Control is a unique deployment mode for Cisco Unified Presence which enables Microsoft Office Communicator Users to control Cisco IP Telephony endpoints. This is a separate and independent deployment mode from standard IM and Presence functions. The Cisco Unified Presence server is required only as the gateway and does not limit user capacity. Table 6 identifies the number of Microsoft Office Communicator users that are supported per server and per cluster.

Note Capacity numbers for Microsoft Office Communicator interoperability are defined based on Cisco Unified Communications Manager, not Cisco Unified Presence; Cisco Unified Communications Server is required to provide CSTA Gateway.
