Phone Customization

Rings and Message Indicator Customization

You can customize how your phone indicates an incoming call and a new voice mail message. You can also adjust the ringer volume for your phone.

Tip

You can customize your phone to have up to six distinctive ring tones. In addition, you can have a default ringtone.

Change Ringtone Per Line

Procedure
    Step 1   Choose > User Preferences > Rings.
    Step 2   Choose a phone line or the default ring setting.
    Step 3   Choose a ringtone to play a sample of it.
    Step 4   Press Select and Save to set the ringtone, or press Cancel.

    Adjust Phone Ringer Volume Level

    Check with your system administrator to see if a minimum ringer volume setting was configured.

    Procedure
    Press while the handset is in the cradle and the headset and speakerphone buttons are off. The new ringer volume is saved automatically.

    Change Ring Pattern (Flash-Only, Ring Once, Beep-Only)

    Before you can access this setting, your system administrator might need to enable it for you.

    Procedure
      Step 1   Log in to your User Options web pages.
      Step 2   Access your call ring pattern settings.

      Change Audible Voice-Message Indicator

      Procedure
        Step 1   Log in to your User Options web pages.
        Step 2   Access your message indicator settings.

        Change How Voice Message Light on Handset Works

        Procedure
          Step 1   Log in to your User Options web pages.
          Step 2   Choose Change the Message Waiting Lamp policy.
          Step 3   Access your message indicator settings. Typically, the default system policy is to indicate a new voice message by displaying a steady light on the handset light strip.

          Phone Screen Customization

          You can adjust the characteristics of the phone screen.

          Enable or disable the screen

          Turn off illumination of the phone screen

          Contact your system administrator to see if this optional feature is available to you. This feature enables you to turn off phone screen illumination for a predetermined time (as set by your system administrator).

          Change Phone Screen Brightness


          Note


          If you change the brightness setting on your phone, do not unplug the phone from its power source for at least one minute or the brightness setting will not get saved.


          Procedure
            Step 1   Choose > User Preferences > Brightness.
            Step 2   To make adjustments, press Up, Down, or .
            Step 3   Press Save, or press Cancel.

            Change Background Image

            Procedure
              Step 1   Choose > User Preferences > Background Images.
              Step 2   Scroll through available images and press Select to choose an image.
              Step 3   Press Preview to see a larger view of the background image.
              Step 4   Press Exit to return to the selection menu.
              Step 5   Press Save to accept the image or press Cancel.

              Change Phone Screen Language

              Procedure
                Step 1   Log in to your User Options web pages.
                Step 2   Access your user settings.
                Step 3   Select a language.

                Change Line Text Label

                Procedure
                  Step 1   Log in to your User Options web pages.
                  Step 2   Access your line text label settings.

                  Adjust Phone Screen Viewing Angle

                  Supported only on the Cisco Unified IP Phones7970G and 7971G-GE.

                  Procedure
                    Step 1   Choose > User Preferences > Viewing Angle.
                    Step 2   To make adjustments, press Up, Down, or .
                    Step 3   Press Save, or press Cancel.
