Why does the Cisco TelePresence MCU receive a low frame rate from my high resolution endpoint?
Some endpoints such as the Sony HG90 and Polycom HDX are capable of sending high resolutions at high frame rates. However, when participants using these endpoints are only being viewed in low resolution panes by other participants, the Cisco TelePresence MCU knows that receiving high resolution input is not necessary, and reduces the bandwidth it receives from these endpoints. This conserves network bandwidth.
Unfortunately, instead of reducing the resolution they send, some endpoints send a high resolution at a low frame rate, resulting in a pane with both a low resolution and a low frame rate. This behavior can be prevented by deselecting the Video receive bit rate optimization in the Settings > Conferences page. This prevents the MCU from reducing incoming bandwidths, even if they are at a higher bandwidth than is necessary.
