CSACS SE - CSACSE-1113-K9

Problem Description

Upon a reboot, the CS ACS 1113 Appliance will not retain the previously configured IP for its Network Interface Card. The user will have to configure the address each time.

Background

This issue has been seen in new units being sent to customers.

Problem Symptoms

The unit will not have a valid IP address for its Network Interface Card and will not join the network, pass traffic or authorize users.

Workaround/Solution

The are several ways to resolve this issue

1) Download a patch for ACS version 4.1 found at this location:

Cisco Secure Access Control Server Solution Engine Software Downloads (registered customers only)

You will need to download the following two files:

Patch filename: applACS-4.1-set-ip-CSCsm73656-Patch.zip
Readme file and installation instructions: applACS-4.1-set-ip-CSCsm73656-readme.txt

The patch can be applied to all ACS SE 4.1 versions.

Complete instructions for applying the patch can be found in the readme.txt file. If you have difficulty in applying the patch files because the ACS 1113 appliance will not boot from the DVD ROM drive, then you will need to reference Field Notice 63111.

2) Applying 4.1.4.13.7 cumulative patch -
Patch filename: applAcs-4.1.4.13.7-CSUpdate.zip
Readme file: applAcs-4.1.4.13.7-Readme.txt

which can be found here:

Cisco Secure Access Control Server Solution Engine Software Downloads (registered customers only)

3) Reimaging the appliance with 4.1.1.24.1 Recovery CD. You will have to contact Cisco TAC for access to this software.
