Cisco Unified MeetingPlace

Field Notice: IIS Lockdown Component URLScan Breaks Cisco MeetingPlace Web Functionality

November 1, 2004

Products Affected

MP Web - Versions 4.2.7.x, 4.3.0.x

Problem Description

The Cisco MCS servers used to run MeetingPlace Web have the Microsoft IIS Lockdown tool installed and running. The Lockdown tool has an integrated component, URLScan, that breaks some key functionality only in MeetingPlace Web versions 4.3.0.x and below.

Problem Symptoms

The following issues are encountered:

  1. Presentation Mode in the Meeting Room does not function at all, which causes blank Slide tabs as well as other issues associated with displaying presentations.

  2. Many of the .ASP pages do not work or display properly, one main one being the Reference Center.

For all current MeetingPlace Web versions 4.3.0.x and below deployed on the Cisco MCS server, URLScan must be removed using the following procedure.

Removing the URLScan ISAPI filter:

  1. Stop the Cisco MeetingPlace Web Conferencing Master Service. Verify IIS Admin and WWW Publishing Service are also stopped.

  2. Launch the Internet Services Manager (Start > Programs > Administrative Tools).

  3. Right-click the hostname and choose Properties.

  4. In the Master Properties drop-down menu, make sure WWW Service is selected and then click Edit.

  5. The WWW Service Master Properties dialog box appears.

  6. Click the ISAPI Filters tab.

  7. Select URLScan from the list of installed filters and click Remove.

  8. Click Apply and OK to validate the changes.

  9. Click OK on the previous screen and close the IIS application.

  10. Restart the Cisco MeetingPlace Web Conferencing Master Service.
